Harishchandragad is one of the best trekking destination in the Sahyadris of Maharashtra. It is a fort located in the Ahmednagar region and held a lion's share in controlling the surrounding areas. This fort has got an eye pleasing natural beauty, along with a diverse flora and fauna.
Various spots at Harishchandragad include:
Saptatirtha Pushkarni - a lake east of the temple
Kedareshwar Cave - A huge cave of Kedareshwar, in which there is a big Shiva Linga, which is completely surrounded by water. Its height from the base is five feet, and the water is waist-deep.
Konkan Kada - This cliff faces west and looks down upon the Konkan. It provides a scenic view of the surrounding region and the setting sun.
Taramati peak - This is the topmost point on the fort (1429 meters). Provides the view of Nanheghat, Ajoba, Kulang, Kalsubai etc.
Temple of Harishchandreshwar - This temple is marvelous example of the fine art of carving sculptures out of stones that prevailed in ancient India
Ways to Reach: There are various ways to reach to the top with difficulty ranging from easy to difficult. We'd we going up via the tough Nalichi Vaat route and will descend from Khireshwar route
