Greek Film Festival 2011: Pandora - Film (Greek/2006). Dir.George Stamboulopoulos.
Vassilis wanders around in the dilapidated house, where he was raised by his uncle Kostis. His mind is flooded with memories of a time long-gone. It's the early 1950's, the aftermath of a civil war. Vassili's father, Manos, was still in exile when an American woman, Pandora, descended on the village. Like her mythological namesake, she too wrecked havoc on men's hearts: Kostis fell in love with her, and the little village community saw the invasion of modern customs. When Manos returns from exile, Pandora steals his heart, but in the end he turns her down. When a tragedy strikes, an accident many believe to be a deliberate killing, things take a tragic turn for the young Vassilis. Winner of the Best Picture at Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
