About The Event

The trek to Goechala route is in the region of the Kanchenjunga National Park that is open to all. The trek starts with a lush green flora and magnificent mass views until it reach a high bypass. The route passes through tropical and coniferous woodland and the moist dell are home to a copious array of flora and fauna. Sikkim is renowned for its orchid's flowers garland which for sure will mesmerize you.

Itinerary:
Day 1: NJP (New Jalpaiguir Railway Station)/Bagdogra Airport - Yuksom 
You will be picked up from the NJP railway station/Bagdogra airport and driven to Yuksom. (Reach the airport/station before 9:30 am). The drive to Yuksom is around 7-8 hours long and along the way enjoy the beauty of Sikkim. Dinner and overnight at homestay. 


Day 2: Yuksom (1760m) - Sachen (2160m)
At early morning Trek begins from Yuksom homestay. We will be camping at Sachen.
You will come across the valley of Rathong river, Pha-khola and Perk river. The water of Perk river is pure and crystal clear and hanging wooden bridge over the river makes your trek more adventurous. Tshushay Khola falls in a series of mini waterfalls joining the peak below Mentogang khola and you will be engulfed between gush of trees all around the trail leading you to your destination. Dinner and overnight at Sachen camp.


Day 3: Sachen (2160m) - Tshokha (2930m) 
Early morning after breakfast we will start our trek to Phedang via Tshoka. Tshoka is a historic place, where few Tibetan people use to live until Kanchenjunga National park declared this place as protected area. They have been shifted to Yuksom with all their belongings, sheeps, yak cattle, etc. This hill has a Monastery where trekkers pray for the successful summit and right below the monastery there is a small pond which makes the place so serene and beautiful. Dinner and overnight at camp.


Day 4: Tshokha (2930m) - Dzongri (3930m)
Get up early in the morning and go around the campsite for bird watching. You can witness the different variety of birds in this trek. After breakfast we move towards Dzongri and the trail is covered by Rhododendron tress all around you and the landscape changes from Deorali to most scenic trail of wooden logs. Dinner and overnight at camp.


Day 5: Dzongri (3930m) to Thansing (3900m)
Early morning we will move towards Dzongri La Top viewpoint to witness the mighty Kanchenjunga range right in front of you. The view of the sun rays hitting the mountainous god will refresh your mind and you can relax there after the long 4 days journey. Dzongri La means the places where people meet the gods of the mountains. After that we will move towards Thansing, crossing the beautiful meadow, Prekchu River and forest of Rhododendron trees next to the river. The view will make your trek more pleasing. Dinner and overnight at camp.


Day 6: Thansing (3900m) - Lamuney (4120m)
After breakfast, we trek from Thansing to Lamuney. It will be the easiest trail, a straight walk from Thansing. The trek along the meadows is straight ahead and the path leads to Goechala. At Lamuney we will be camping right below the snow clad mountain. Dinner and overnight at camp.


Day 7: Lamuney (4120m) - Goecha La (4780m) - Kokchurung
Today trek will be longer than before. We have to wake up at 3am and head toward our summit via Samiti Lake. The crystal clear lake creates a magical effect. After reaching the summit spend some time with nature and enjoy the magnificent view of mountain and glaciers that makes the trekkers spellbound. Later we trek back to Kokchurung via Thansing.
Camping at Kokchrung and its beautiful surrounding nearby makes you feel like you are in heaven for the moment. Pitch the tent by the river. We can witness different variety of flora and fauna during the trek if your luck favours you you can see Red Panda, barking deer, blood Pheasant, Blue Sheep etc.


Day 8: Kokchurung(3900m) to Tsokha (2930m)
The way to Tshoka from Kokchurung is covered by Maple trees, Pine trees and Rhododendron trees and other bushes. The way is easy from valley to valley we will reach Tshoka in afternoon via Phedang. Dinner and overnight at camp.


Day 9: Tshokha (2930m) - Yuksom (1690m)
Today we trek back to Yukosom and relax at the homestay. Dinner and overnight at homestay.


Day 11: Depart from Yuksom
Today we depart from Yuksom to NJP railway station/Bagdogra Airport. If you want to reach NJP by 4-5 pm you need to leave early in the morning by 4-5 am.
