GIR WILDLIFE TOUR

Overview:

The Gir National Park and Gir Wildlife sanctuary are located about 65 km south east in the Junagadh district of Gujarat. Gir National Park is one of the India’s finest wildlife sanctuaries located in Gujarat. This national park is set up in an area of 1412 square km. of lush deciduous forests.  Besides lion, various variety of wild animals are found in this park which are the Wild boar, Bear, Panther, Jackal, Sambar, Spotted deer, Striped Hyena, Leopard, Nilgai, Chinkara gazelle, Jungle cat, Black napped hare, Common langur, Porcupine, Langur, Blackbuck, Mongoose and the Indian Chousingha, the four horned antelope. The rusty spotted cat has been recorded in the Gir. During monsoons, about 200 varieties of birds can also be seen in this park including the peafowl, gray partridge, Bonelli’s eagle, crested serpent eagle, jungle bush quail, painted sandgrouse, common green pigeon and several species of doves. Gir is also home of the marsh crocodile, which can be sighted easily in its rivers, particularly in the lake of the Kamaleshwar dam. There is also a crocodile breeding farm at Sasan.This national park was established on 18th September 1965 as a Forest Reserve to conserve the Asiatic lion.

Itinerary:

Day 1 – Departure from Pune

Evening departure for Junagadh (Gir)

Day 2: Arrive Gir National Park

Arrive at Sasan Gir National Park from Junagarh/ Rajkot/ Diu. The day is at leisure to lase and relax amidst the whispering sound of the Gir Jungle. Enjoy multi-cuisine dinner and stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning Jeep Safari in Gir National Park

Wake up early morning and head on to jeep safari in any of the prominent zones of Gir National Park. Remember you entered into the only territory in the world outside Africa where a lion can be seen in its natural habitat. The Gir Lion is a majestic animal, averaging 2.75 m in length and with bigger tail tassel.The three hours of Jeep drive takes you deep into the rich variety of flora and fauna which is an abode of 40 species of mammals 425 species of birds. Once you are done, come back to resort and have your lunch. The rest of the day can be enjoyed as per your wish. Enjoy overnight in Gir.

Day 4: Departure

Get up early in the morning with chirping sound birds. Explore the rest of the wildlife attractions of Gir. Once you are done, take buffet of breakfast and complete the check-out formalities & transfer to your onward destination.

Day 5 – Arrive in Pune

Arrive in Pune with awesome wild memories.
