About The Event

The novel, written in bildsungroman style is presented in a personal comic reflection made by Pip, which prevents his story sound too self-pitying. At every important phase of reading the novel the reader is constantly reminded of the presence of “The Other” Pip- always present, at times silent, at times reproachful, repentive, angry, hurt, sarcastical and at moments encouraging Pip to accept his failures and move on ahead in life, that, Survival is the biggest Expectation and to make it Great one needs Inner Peace and Understanding of the deeper meanings of life…
Thus nothing but the two together makes ‘Great Expectations’.
The entire story is a journey of Pip’s life, a journey of Pip’s great expectations, which keep coming on shore and off shore, and with the sails changing each time, the ship takes a new turn and the play embodies a collection of certain most important moments of his life. In this age of excessive materialization the play is an attempt to make one reflect…
‘Each person is a Pip somewhere with a Joe in his distant remembrances…with his heart full of sub-conscious guilt carried against all those whom he love and those who love him….’
