Visiting Bird Sanctuaries
Pulicat Lake is the second largest brackish water lake in India. An important stopover of migrant birds and approximately 15,000 flamingos visit the lake each year along with various species of birdsincluding pelicans, kingfishers, herons, painted storks, spoonbills and ducks.
Nelapattu Sanctuary is one of the largest pelican habitats in Southeast Asia. It provides finebreeding ground for rare and endangered species like Spotted Billed Pelican, Open-Billed Stork,Coot, Painted Stork, Flamingos, Little Cormorant, Spoon-Bill, White-Ibis and Night Heron.
Uppalapadu Sanctuary The number of birds inhabiting this small stretch of land makes it one ofthe densest areas occupied by birds at any given time, anywhere in India. The number of birdstouches 20,000 during the peak season between September and February.60 species of migratory birds like Painted Stork, White Ibis, Heron, Cormorant & Rosy Pastor travelto this sanctuary.
Guntur – Uppalapadu Sanctuary : 1 night stay, 2 Safaris .
Sullurpeta – Pulicat Lake & Nelapattu : 2 nights stay, 4 Safaris.
