Overview of the Programme
Finance is a dynamic area. In today’s computerized worldit is an inevitable situation for practitioners, academiciansand research scholars to understand spreadsheet techniquesas a core skill to understand the dynamics of finance moreeffectively. The objective of this programme is to applyFinance Methods on Excel and to assist the participants inbuilding more powerful and robust spreadsheet applicationsin developing Financial Models. Financial Modeling coversa wide area from simple” sheets to add up expenses” to“sophisticated risk modeling for projects.” This programmeon Financial Modeling covers standard financial modelsin the areas of corporate finance, financial statementsimulation, portfolio problems.
Day 1 will focus on the need for modeling as a generalsubject and as a specific one in finance, use of statisticstools in financial modeling, financial statement modeling,and basics of corporate valuation.
Day 2 will focus on valuation and valuation related aspects,techniques of capital investment decisions, and assessment
of weighted average cost of capital, sensitivity analysis,modeling for security analysis and portfolio management.
Participants should have an inclination towards learningexcel and for usage in their class room activities as well asin their research work.
Every participant will be provided a laptop loaded with all programme material. Majority of the programme discussions will be in the form of workshop model. Inaddition to this the pedagogy also includes lectures,demonstrations, practical, relevant examples and discussions. Clear and concise explanations will be providedin each case for the implementation of the models usingExcel.
