2 Day Workshop
Odissi is a classical dance form originating in Odisha. Said to be the oldest dance form, it follows the Natyashastra, and therfore in many ways similar to Bharat Natyam and Kuchipudi, but is much more soft, feminine and exquisitely beautiful.
About Sanjukta Ghosh: She is a student of Guru Smt Sharmila Biswas (Sangeet Natak Academy awardee and disciple of legendary Guru Keluchran Mohapatra). She is the founder of Odissi Nrityaangan in Hyderabad, and also teaches at Our Sacred Space,Marredpally.

Structure of the Workshop :
The workshop is open to all, above 6yrs of age. Practitioners of other dance forms who want to explore and get a feel of Odissi are especially welcome.
The workshop will start with body warm ups, a few of the important stances and "bhangis" and some basic footwork in them. This will be followed by learning of a simple composition based on a sloka, that exemplifies the Odissi style to the fullest.
