Kolkata artist Avijit Dutta shows delicate watercolours juxtaposing elements of nature with memories of a bygone era in a solo show titled ENSOUL: Presented by Gallerie Ganesha at Booth F-3, India Art Fair 2018, New Delhi
New Delhi: Kolkata artist Avijit Dutta poignantly combines abstract memories with a contemporary iconography in a solo show titledEnsoul that is being presented by Gallerie Ganesha at Booth No. F-3, India Art Fair 2018, NSIC Grounds, Okhla Industrial Area, New Delhi from February 9 to February 12, 2018. The exhibition will continue at Gallerie Ganesha, E-557, Greater Kailash II, New Delhi from February 14 to February 28, 2018.
Dutta is an award-winning watercolourist whose technique is reminiscent of early Renaissance frescos. He says, “Ensoul means to hold something close to your heart and soul. My work is based on memories and relics from the past. The fond memories and sweet reminisces become a part and parcel of every person, they often define him and also shape his personality. Since my work is based on treasured moments that a person forever carries within his entity, I have titled the series ‘Ensoul’. At the same time, I love nature so I want to bring us closer to what we have stopped appreciating.”
Rendered with utmost gentleness and finesse, these works exemplify the artist’s experience of reliving moments, embracing them and celebrating them as a part of a bigger process, as a fragment of the continuously evolving and mutating existence.
