"Basic Digital Photography Workshop (Indoor/Outdoor)

Objective of the Workshop
Understand fundamental photography techniques in digital camera and how to use them practically.
Develop a very good photographer's eye. Learn to take artistic compositions.
Capture memorable and inspiring shots when you travel to beautiful locations.
Learn useful techniques to avoid common problems.
Be able to read pictures, and develop a way for self-assessment to capture better photographs.
First Day: Theory and Practice Indoor
Second Day: First Half Outdoor Practice
1. Knowing Your Digital Camera
Point and shoot or DSLR,
Basic understanding of the camera components,
Using various modes in the camera
2. Digital Photography fundamentals
Understanding light, field of view, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, Depth of field (DOF),
Understanding Histogram and exposing correctly,
Hands on exercises
3. Designing a Photograph: Composition
Various compositional rules like rule of thirds - lines and curves - framing - Patterns,
Achieving right balance in the photograph, Capturing with interesting angles,
Removing clutter from our compositions - keeping it clean
4. Travel and Nature Photography
5. People and Culture Photography
Capturing culture and festivals,
Use of flash for people and places, photographing at the gardens, people at the gardens
Capturing landscapes and nature during Nature travel
Photographing during treks
Overcoming common problems
6. Photo Critique and discussion
7. Best photo selection for exhibit.

About the Mentor
Lalit Deshmukh is a professional fine art photographer based in Pune, India. Lalit is very passionate about nature, from where he draws much of his inspiration for photography. He enjoys capturing special moments in nature and invoking emotions via compositions and light.Lalit has spent more than 10 years exploring and photographing western
United States including the Rocky mountains, Colorado plateau as well as Pacific coast and surrounding volcanic region. He has presented his work in various organizations in USA and India. He has also delivered lectures and workshops in corporates like TCS, Infosys, Persistent systems and other organizations. He conducts various photography tours
across India including wildlife, seascapes, mountain region like Kanha, Kokan and Ladakh. Lalit has also coordinated and photographed several projects with NGOs as an AIDS volunteer, in the areas of health, education, environment as well as children and women issues. Brought up in India and graduated in Electronics from Pune, Lalit later completed his masters in computer science from Ohio, United States. He comes with 12 years of professional experience in the software industry as a Project Management Professional.
