The Digital age has accelerated shift towards experience economy. Massive innovations in technology and business models have ensured that competition is intense and can come from totally unexpected quarters. Pace of technical evolution is increasing but success requires a combination of technology with radical, human centric innovation. Design Thinking is an effective framework applied successfully by a wide range of organizations towards these goals. Success stories are found in a wide range of Product Designs, Service design and delivery, Design of effective business processes and many other areas where one can put a human at the centre of the universe. Not just for-profit businesses but even Governments, Educational institutions and other public service organizations are also reaping benefits of effectively deploying Design Thinking principles.

 

In recent years Design Thinking has played key role in success of many large companies from Star bucks to Uber. Companies founded by Design Thinkers have been hugely successful–Air bnb being a prime example. Global consultancy firms like McKinsey, KPMG, Accenture have sharpened their focus on Design Thinking and many have acquired Design firms: More than 20 design firms were acquired in 2016.

 

Many business schools now offer courses in Design Thinking. Experience from Design is leading to significant shifts in education including in Engineering education.

 

This is just the beginning. Design Thinking is set to revolutionize and re-define innovation as human-centric innovation in all spheres of value delivery.

 

The BMA conference on Design Thinking offers a unique opportunity to understand the framework and experience it by going thru a fast-paced workshop to solve a Design challenge. Uday is a staunch believer in a client centric world. Haresh has done similar programs for NASSCOM, Pune–SPIN, Smart India Hackathon, S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, School of Design Thinking, etc. Haresh has expertise in the areas of IT process transformation, innovation and change management. His primary role involves improving client experience, optimizing operational efficiency and managing enterprise risks. He has worked with clients in US, UK, Continental Europe and India providing coaching in the areas of agile, lean six sigma and design thinking.
