About The Event

The need to feel secure is important to everyone, but children especially need to feel this.

Being physically, socially, and emotionally secure is imperative for healthy development and a successful future for children. All children have the right to grow up safe from abuse. Protecting children from sexual abuse is part of creating safe environments that help children grow and thrive.

For most of us, the idea of hurting, violating, and abusing a child is intolerable. But these crimes are not as rare as we would like to think. Every day, countless children around the world are sexually abused and exploited, and images and videos of the abuse are circulated. In our country, National Crime Records Bureau’s data on cases registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses shows a steady increase in the rate.

Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) is deemed a sensitive, complex, and tabooed topic, specifically not to be discussed with children. Prevention is the key in dealing with this issue and raising awareness is the first step towards prevention. We cannot afford to remain passive, silent and we cannot afford to act alone. We at Learning Space Foundation, work towards raising awareness among children and adults about personal safety of children. But this is not a phenomenon that any NGO can tackle on its own. We need people – parents, teachers, and any other caring adults, communities and media to walk with us for protecting our children.

As part of Child Safety Week 2022, we are organizaing Child Safety Awareness Walkathon (CSAW) in collaboration with Meridian Schools, Dignity Drive Foundation and Youngistaan Foundation. This is our attempt to raise awareness regarding safety of children and fight the taboos around the issue. School children are coming up with activities, going to showcase their talents and taking part in organizing the event.

Choose children at all times! Come, join us to show your support and walk (or run) for child safety!
