About The Event

 Creative writing is not just about writing stories; it is about writing creatively irrespective of the genre that you choose to write in. 

Try your hands at the different aspects of writing. Learn more about character creation and dialogue delivery and work along with the sacred rules of grammar.

 

What do we do?

  • We use time tested writing exercises which are interactive and fun.
  • We give individual attention to each of our students in the class
  • We have designed a syllabus which brings out the creative and written best in each of our students

The workshop is for four hours and will cover the following:

 Get insights in to character creation, dialogue delivery, point of view and setting through assignments

 Ÿ  Learn the technique of using the language effectively in writing

 Ÿ  Bring out the skeleton of your first story while in class and flesh it out with inputs and learnings gathered from the workshop

This workshop is intended for children between the age group of 10-15.

 About the trainer

 Asha Francis has over 12 years of experience in teaching English and writing. A qualified and experienced English teacher, with an MA in English and an M. Phil in comparative literature, she was, one among the 15 people across India, selected for a workshop for Teachers of Creative Writing, which was organized and sponsored by the British Council. She has conducted various workshops in writing, for both children and adults, at the British Council, Bangalore.

 A published writer in fiction, her collaborative novel, Literally Yours, was launched at the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2015. Her work has also appeared in Ripples (an anthology of short stories by Indian Women Writers, published by APK publishers). She has also written the biography of a renowned US computer scientist, John Hopcroft, which was launched in 2014. She is currently working on a novel to be published in early 2018.
