Abstract : India and many other developing countries face urgent developmental imperatives while also facing sustainability challenges that are no less urgent. While it is clear that science and technology (S&T) can play a role in addressing these challenges, a key question is how to best leverage it do so? How could science and technology activities be organized - domestically and internationally - for greater effectiveness? Using the case of climate and energy, this talk will present some thoughts on this issue as well as discuss some current emerging approaches.
