You are not your thoughts
It is how we think about the situation that affects how we feel. If we change our thoughts, we can change how we feel. The way we perceive situations has a huge impact on how we feel emotionally. Many individuals are not fully aware of the impact of these beliefs and perceptions. We would try to pinpoint how their thoughts and beliefs are driving their distress. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy emphasizes solving problems and making changes in behavior.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a short term goal oriented Psychotherapy which focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs & attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour. It teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. You learn to identify and challenge any negative thinking patterns and behaviour which may be causing you difficulties. In turn, this can change the way you feel about situations and enable you to change your behaviour in future.
CBT has been shown to be an effective way of treating a number of different mental health conditions.
