About The Event

ECMO Training Program

We endeavor to deliver the most competitive and informative course for the practice of Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation, supervised by field experts, ECMO co-ordinators and training program directors from India, United States of America, United Kingdom and Australia.

This includes three days of extensive, in depth training program for ECMO specialists. Prior preparation will be invaluable. We recommend reading through “The Redbook: ECMO: Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Support in Critical Care: Fourth Edition” and “ECMO Specialist training manual” published by ELSO.

ECMO practical manual volume 1 and 2 published by Dr.Venkat Goyal and Dr. Pranay Oza, ECMO Society of India will be worth going through.

This training program will be of interest to:

Anyone from the following disciplines who is keen to accept ECMO as career:

Intensivist – adult, paediatric, neonates

Registered nurse

Respiratory therapist or Critical care nurse

Cardiologist, Cardiac or Vascular surgeon or Anaesthetist

Post graduate candidates

Preferably teams of 3 to 5 people from Critical care centers which include an
Intensivist, Cardiac surgeon, Perfusionist & Registered critical care nurse, are ideal. It is very important to build up teams of perfusionists and ECMO specialists to take turns while looking after the patient. In centres which do ECMO less often, keeping the skills up to date by attending waterlabs and ECMO training sessions as revision are a must.
