For those of you who have been following the revolution in the rise of Bitcoin, Ethereum and related Cryptocurrencies, you may have heard of all the hype surrounding the "Blockchain" in the media. This workshop is targeted at anyone who wants to go beyond the hype, and actually focus on what the Blockchain is, and it's implications in Industries apart from just cryptocurrencies.
This workshop is for anyone, technical or non-technical, who wants to understand a pragmatic approach to building applications with Blockchain, and will involve an introductory session on the basics of Blockchain and it’s components. Participants will understand blockchain and it’s intricacies by building a proof of concept.

DAY 1 -- BASICS OF BLOCKCHAIN
11.00 - 11.15: Welcome, Tea and Coffee
11.15 - 11.45: Simple Exercise with Participants to demonstrate what is the Blockchain (practically speaking)
11.45 - 13.00: Overview of Centralized vs. Distributed systems, with a brief introduction to Consensus Mechanisms
13.00 - 14.00: Lunch Break (on your own)
14.00 - 16.00: Continuation of Consensus Mechanisms, Smart Contracts, dApps with hands-on exercises
16.00 - 17.00: Create a Blockchain App on paper hands-on exercise
17.00 - 18.00: Sidecoins and Altcoins
DAY 2 -- IMPLEMENTING THE BLOCKCHAIN
11.00 - 11.15: Recap of Day 1's Introduction
11.15 - 13.00: Building your Blockchain

NOTES:
+ This workshop is a BEGINNERS introduction to the world of Blockchain and serves as a primer to get a deeper understanding of the topic and how one can use this new way of thinking about data and networks in our everyday applications.
+ You MUST BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP/Charger to take advantage of the hands-on exercises! PCs/Machines will not be provided at the venue.
+ You don't necessarily need to know how to code. However, basic knowledge of coding will be a bonus.
+ On the first day, we will cover the basics of blockchain like smart contracts, consensus mechanisms and dApps. On the second day, we will get a clearer understanding of the blockchain by implementing one ourselves.
