DATES: 10-19 August ( by train )

            11-18 August ( by air )

Itinerary:

Day 1: Depart Mumbai by the Delhi Garibrath at 4:55 pm from the Bandra station.

Day 2: ( Participants flying to Delhi are expected to reach Delhi by 930 am ). Reach Delhi at 9:40 and spend some time exploring Delhi’s ancient treasures ( at own cost ). We meet for lunch at Akshardham temple and then proceed towards Manali by an overnight Volvo.

Day 3: On your arrival in Manali, you will be transferred to the hotel. Spend the evening exploring the Hadimba temple, Vashist hot water springs and the streets of old Manali.

Day 4: Today, we climb the epic Spitian mountains. We make our way towards the fabled Rohtang la and spend some time photographing the immense natural beauty around. But, the real adventure begins now. As most people return down south to Manali or make their way north towards Leh, we turn east into the heart of the Spiti valley. As our vehicles go on and on, sights of breathtaking beauty come and go, each more stunning than the other! We will all signs of civilization behind and set out to explore the Himalaya at its pristine best. Overnight at Chhatru / Dadar Pul tented campsite.

Day 5: We leave just as the sun’s rays strike the stark mountains and paint them vividly! We explore the enthralling Chandra tal lake, a high altitude lake bordered by tall mountains, meadows and pastures. Chandra tal presents excellent opportunities for photographing the true natural beauty of Spiti. After a lunch by its banks and some afternoon photography, we make our way towards Kaza, the remote Buddhist town. We explore the enchanting monastery in Kaza and make our way towards Rangrik which is our home for the night.

Day 6: Today, we visit two of Spiti’s most glorious structures, the Tabo and Dhankar monasteries. These monasteries, set in high mountains are a dream for photographers. Have a super time at the monasteries before we visit the Pin valley. This is an excellent for high-altitude Himalayan fauna, like the Snow Leopard and the Ibex. We will try and search for these rarities and in any case spend quality time photographing the beauty all around.

Day 7: Today, we visit Spiti’s largest monastery, the Key monastery. Afterwards, we set out to explore the Kibber village, one of India’s highest inhabited villages. Kibber is a paradise with lush green fields and tall limestone cliffs, which are the haunt of many Snow Leopards! Who knows…

We visit the local houses and try and understand the local culture. In due course of time, we make our way back towards Manali. We would be presented with excellent golden light on our way back, which you would not miss! The verdant landscapes of Manali in the evening light are a sight to behold! Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: After a tiring 5 days exploring the Spiti valley, we spend the day at leisure. Manali’s shopping scene is as vibrant as its residents are and with the help of our local friends, we would explore the market. We leave for Delhi in the evening by Volvo.

Day 9: Reach Delhi in the morning and spend a few hours exploring the capital (Akshardham / India Gate / Lotus Temple, etc at own cost ). Board the Mumbai-bound Garibrath at 3:40 pm.

( Participants flying back from Delhi can book any flight after 1 pm )

Day 10: Reach Mumbai at 8:10 am.
