Bike N Hike's Big Cat Diaries is back and this time we're adding a few spots to its pages! The Big Cat Diaries are a series of trips that are carefully designed to give you a whole lot more of an experience than just safaris and photography of Big Cats. If you’re looking for a heart-stopping, hands-on and an exhilarating experience, then join us as we head to Bera to make the most of the bountiful opportunities of photographing the most sought after and elusive wild cat – The Leopard.
The strikingly gorgeous Leopard is stealthy and secretive with a remarkable ability to go undetected. It is quite difficult and rare to spot one in the wild, as they tend to remain elusive up high in the trees or hidden in the thickets. The spotted beauty is blessed with great camouflage abilities as its spots technically called the ‘rosettes’ work wonders in dappled light and seems darker in the night making it perfect for stalking and hunting. When it comes to Bera, the lady luck is by your side more often in terms of Leopard sightings. The thrill of the search and sighting a Leopard are those exhilarating moments that will set your pulse racing. Unique scape of Bera is a photographer’s delight in itself. Now picture a beautiful Leopard or two basking and reflecting the golden light on a cold winter morning or picture a silhouette of a Leopard on a rock ledge during the blue hour! All this and many more creative compositions are served on a platter along with the portraiture style of photography.
This photography trip is designed exclusively to maximise photo opportunities with maximum 4 members in each vehicle, giving you ample space to compose and ensure that you are at ease. In short, everything else is taken care of by us so that you can concentrate on your photography and indulge in pulsating environs of Bera. Apart from leopards, wildlife is prolific in this area, with a great diversity of other species such as the Striped Hyena, Indian Fox, Indian Grey Mongoose and Jungle Cat. Crocodiles make grand appearances too. Making the best of both worlds, we have specially planned during the birding season; giving us the opportunity to come across some migratory birds apart from the resident species as well.
This photo-tour is led by Vipul Ramanuj, whose constant alert and vigil mind in the wild makes sure that participants gain a huge take away from our workshops. Also, being a well acclaimed wildlife photographer with images and records of never before captured images of various species, Vipul will be sharing tips on photography in the field. His expertise will ensure that you benefit from personalised attention on everything from how to achieve the best position for that perfect shot to hands-on tips. If you are an amateur then this trip gives you an opportunity to learn from the mentors to sharpen your skills in nature & wildlife photography. Field tips and techniques on composition, approach and finer nuances of nature photography will also be discussed. For experienced photographers and wildlifers this is a 'ready to eat' platter with neatly arranged safari rides and tonnes of photo-ops.
