About The Event

Photography can be a truly rewarding experience – one that adds a spark to life by opening up your creative side.  It gives life a new meaning that is usually not realised through mundane desk jobs.

The Toehold Basics of Photography Workshop is aimed at beginners who have struck love with photography and seek professional guidance to achieve a sound understanding of the art and science of this highly creative arena.

Whether you're planning to go pro in the future or simply want to whet your creative appetite, what's important is the initial impetus to master the technicalities and the tricks of the trade.  This Workshop does exactly that.

Powered by our learned team of professional photographers, it is your toehold to gain the knowledge and experience gleaned over years of dedication and practice in just a weekend.  And propel you to photographic excellence.

  • Amateur and hobbyist photographers interested in mastering the basics of photography. No age limit or qualifications required; no prerequisite except interest.
  • DSLR camera users will benefit the most from the Workshop while consumer digital
    camera users can attend too.

  • Your DSLR camera and lens or a prosumer point-and-shoot camera
Please note: Bringing a camera is not mandatory, but it is prudent to have one to relate to the topics in question and try the concepts discussed, in real time.  You can even hire a camera from us for the Workshop if you do not have one.
  • Some pictures you have shot, on a pen drive or a CD

  • Date: 24-25 August 2013
  • Time: 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Venue: Hotel Aurora Towers, 9 Moledina Road, Pune

Santosh Saligram

In the annals of contemporary wildlife photography, Santosh Saligram is a name of national repute. Particularly passionate about tigers, Santosh’s style involves narrating a story in partnership with striking, evocative images designed to touch a chord with the viewer. His creations reveal an eye for composition, mastery of tools, dexterous use of light, and above all, a profound love and respect for his subjects, which, he says, are the raison d’être of his work.

Santosh has been richly recognised, most notably as winner of the NDTV Tiger Photo Contest in 2010, finalist in the same year at the world’s most coveted competition - the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and recipient of several Special Mentions in the annual Sanctuary Asia Wildlife Photography competitions. His photos have adorned websites, magazines, books, calendars and other merchandise both commercially and in aid of conservation.
