Banking Conclave-2011 "Future Landscape of Banking in India", Session with Mr. M. D. Mallya, CMD, Bank of Baroda
Annual Banking Conclave is one of the flagship programmes organized by FICCI - Eastern Regional Council annually over the past seven years where Chairmen & Managing Directors of leading Banks address our members over exclusive sessions.
The theme of this year’s Conclave is “Future Landscape of Banking in India”. Banking sector in India has grown rapidly and is expected to enjoy greater growth opportunities in the future. Indian economy has emerged with remarkable rapidity from the slowdown caused by the global crisis, with estimated growth of 8.6% in 2010-11 and an expected 9% next year. Concerted efforts are now needed to break the double-digit growth barrier through industrialization, building infrastructure and rejuvenating agriculture. It is equally important to sustain this growth momentum, particularly amid the growing concerns of inflationary pressure. Banks and Financial Institutions play a stellar role in making economic growth sustainable and also in ensuring stability. Keeping this in view, this year’s Conclave would bring to fore the evolving strategies of Banks to meet these future challenges while leveraging growth opportunities.
