Having featured some of the most exciting and young talent that India has to offer today, Baleno Wicked Weekends returns to Delhi for an edition that includes one of the mainstays of the Indian electronica scene, Midival Punditz.
A multi-city nightlife campaign that aims to redefine and reinvigorate the club scene in India, Baleno Wicked Weekends has featured indie acts like Raghu Dixit, Parekh & Singh, Junkyard Groove, and bass music producers like Sound Avtar and Mojo Jojo and hopes to become the one-stop nightlife guide for audiences and artists alike.
Midival Punditz: The firestarters
Formed by Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj in 1997, they have over the past two decades released four albums, performed at festivals like Glastonbury, Mula Fest in Spain, Paleo in Switzerland and multiple shows across the United States. The Punditz have been trailblazers, breaking new ground with each achievement, and creating a path for others to follow. They were the first Indian electronica act to get signed by an international label, Six Degrees Records in the US.
Their music which melds traditional Indian sounds with thumping, tailored-for-the-dancefloor beats has found fans all the way from New Delhi to New York. They are renowned for their exceptional live sets, blending electronica with live percussion, vocals and Indian elements like the flute and tabla.
Described as India’s longest party marathon, Baleno Wicked Weekends – a collaboration between Maruti Suzuki - NEXA and Zee Live – has put on 14 shows so far and looks to feature some of the most exciting independent music talent from India
