Introduction about Art House

Art House is the result of the collaborative efforts  of dedicated artists with a vision to change the way young art is perceived. Having struggled to find an exhibiting platform, decided to create a space where any upcoming artist would be free to display his or her talent.

Launched at the ICE exhibition in 2002 after almost ten years of planning and experimentation, Art House is registered as a Cultural Art Society, and has expanded its horizons to encompass craft, and traditional forms of art, that are in the need of encouragement and support. As a Society, we also help in providing employment to upcoming artists by providing them with opportunities in commissioned work and workshops for children and adults.

With the combined aim of helping young artists as well as taking art out of the intimidating gallery space and therefore closer to the general public, they began the Kala Jathrae [art carnival], and the Habba [festival].

Workshop on Sketching

Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture, and paintings.

The  visual arts are art forms that focus on the creation of works which are primarily visual in nature, such as traditional plastic arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, and printmaking), modern visual arts (photography, video, and filmmaking), and design and crafts. Many artistic disciplines (performing arts, language arts, textile arts, and culinary arts) involve aspects of the visual arts as well as other types, so these definitions are not strict.

Artist's sketches primarily serve as a way to try out different ideas.  Sketching sharpens an artist's ability to focus on the most important elements of a subject and is a prescribed part of artistic development for students.
