About The Event

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Power Quality is a measure of an ideal power supply system. It is an important issue for electricity consumers at all levels of usage, particularly industries including service sector. With the extensive application of sensitive power electronic equipment and non-linear loads in our industrial and commercial/domestic applications; problems like power surges/sags, poor voltage and frequency regulation, harmonics, switching transients, electrical noise, EMI effect etc are frequently encountered. This leads to damage of capital-intensive appliances, safety concerns, loss of reliability and above all a huge economic loss. In the aftermath of enactment of Indian Electricity Act 2003, the Power Quality issue is becoming a priority among power supply utilities. Industry needs to gear up for a better understanding of this issue and adopt a long term approach on mitigating the same.

Recognizing this important need of our industries, Asia Power Quality Initiative (APQI) [www.apqi.org ] is established as a means to address power quality issues in the Asian region. APQI aims at creating a national platform on PQ issues while raising awareness among decision-makers as well as building up the capacity of electrical engineers and designers, consultants and other PQ professionals. APQI facilitates continuous professional development; and deliver an interactive credible platform for sharing the knowledge and learning of various stakeholders.

Considering the overwhelming response of the seven programs held at New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore & Chennai, Ahmedabad & Pune, FICCI in association with International Copper Promotion Council (India) under the aegis of the Asia Power Quality Initiative (APQI) is organizing its next series of seminar on “Total Power Quality Management” on 21 June 2011 at Vishakapatanam.

The objective is to create awareness of the issues and build capacity on technical, financial and managerial aspects of power quality. This one day seminar is designed to develop a basic understanding of important power quality concerns, learn the different categories of power quality problems, methods for analyzing these problems and possible solutions.

May we therefore request you to forward nominations from your organization and reap multiple benefits.

With kind regards

Yours faithfully
