Nitin Gupta, CEO of Entertainment Engineers
He is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Bombay famous for creating a Cult Play ‘Love In December’.
Fresh out of IIT Bombay, he got an offer to perform on Laughter Challenge, the opportunity which he later turned down! The reason is why he founded Entertainment Engineers with a simple mission, to make Stand Up Comedy respectable in India and to create a humor Renaissance in this country. Humor he says, ought to have an emotionality to it. We not only want people to laugh and think, we want them to LAUGH, THINK and FEEL at the same time. T.V. was not the medium to do that. So Nitin took to the Stage, College Festivals, Corporate Shows. And in a short span he has already enthralled the Audiences in some of the Biggest College Festivals in India, IITs, NITs, IIMs including their Alumini Meets.

Shashank is a Social Innovator and an Experience Designer who uses design thinking as an instrument to solve problems in developing economies. He is greatly influenced by a statement his professor made once “If you want to see India as a developed nation in the next ten years, how can you contribute as a designer?”. This statement inspired Shashank to initiate an academic project to understand how people with low income levels and low literacy levels deal with finance and technology and the interplay between the two. His research investigated the mismatch between current banking services offered to these low income & literacy groups and explored opportunities to bridge that gap. As part of his project, Shashank reached out to a technology partner FINO (Financial Inclusion Network and Operations) to design mobile banking solutions that bring access and availability of innovative financial services to these groups . These IVRS based solutions have been active since one year across India.
Shashank has a Master’s in Design from the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay. He has also interned with Microsoft Research India where he worked on the project “Supplementary Income Generation through Micro-Tasks for Low Income Novice Computer Users” at Technology for Emerging Markets Group – this work was recently published at SIGDEV, London. Shashank currently works as a Senior Interaction Designer at Yahoo! Inc. where he works on innovations that bring people closer to themselves, to each other, and to the things that matter to them.
Prasun Bhowmik, Fellow at Teach for India
As a Teach For India fellow, his job is to bridge the achievement gap that exists between a 2nd grader from a low income school and his counterpart in a high end private school. His kids come in with a lag of one year in physical growth and mental development; and two years of academic lag and the rote learning they have been through, they are a good two and a half years(min) behind their wealthier counterparts. His aim is to make the next two years experiential and motivational for his class, his school and the community from where they come. These children have never been to a movie theatre, never dined at a restaurant, never met firemen, or police women. He wants his children to experience different things, broaden their horizons, expose them to new emotions, all this alone can make the children of our country more tolerant and open minded. He is an engineer from BIT Mesra.
