Meeting Aspirations Inclusively...
“As our economy booms and as our industry grows, I hear a pressing complaint about an imminent shortage of skilled employees. As a country endowed with huge human resources, we cannot let this be a constraint.” - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
INDIAN GROWTH PANORAMA:
It is estimated that by year 2025, the proportion of India’s working age population would increase to approx. 65%. This would be approx. 25% of world’s working age population. India is expected to be home to a skilled workforce of 500 million by 2025.
India is on a transition in its growth story. There is high economic growth fuelling a strong demand for skilled manpower. However, majority of manpower is unemployable. Hence, if India is to maintain its growth over next decade and prevent the economy from derailing, the ‘skill gap’ issue has to be addressed immediately.
SLATE (School for Livelihood Advancement and Training in Employability) was conceived in October 2010.
SLATE aims to become the bridge between disconnected section of our society and the high growth modern economy.
SLATE is a venture formed by highly motivated team of young professionals and social entrepreneurs who believe that social inclusion has to be an integral part of country’s economic development.
SLATE would help students develop a sense of social responsibility, as well as intellectual and practical skills that span all areas of study, such as communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills in real-world settings.
