How to Reach:-

From Dehradun: 

You can reach Dehradun by an overnight journey from Delhi. New Delhi Dehradun AC Special leaves New Delhi station at 11.55 in the night to get to Dehradun by 5.40 in the morning. Indiahikes pick up is lined up with the AC Special.

1. Dhaula can be reached by a private vehicle from Dehradun.

2. The other way to get there is to take a bus from Dehradun to Sankri, get off at Naitwar and take a shared jeep to Dhaula. The bus from Dehradun leaves at 5.30 am from Gandhi Road, just outside the railway station.

3. If you are taking a taxi the route is Dehardun -- Mussoorie -- Damta -- Nowgaon -- Purola -- Mori -- Naitwar -- Dhaula. It is a 10 hour long, but lovely road journey.

4. If you prefer trains you can also take an overnight train from Delhi to Dehradun.

Brief itinerary:-
Day 1 :- Pick up from Dehradun railway station 6AM in the morning.
Day 2 :- Daula (5,500 ft) to Sewa (6,300 ft), 7 kms, 6 hrs
Day 3 :- Sewa (6,300 ft) to Jhaka (8,700 ft), 9 kms, 7 hrs
Day 4 :- Jhaka (8,700 ft) to Saruwas thatch (11,150 ft), 6 kms. 5 hrs
Day 5 :- Saruwas thatch (11,150 ft) to Dhanderas thatch (lower water fall (11,680 ft), 5 kms, 4 hrs
Day 6 :- Dhanderas thatch (11,680 ft) to UpperWaterfall camp (13,120 ft), 3 hrs. (2 hrs steep climb)
Day 7 :- Upper Waterfall (13,120 ft) to Rupin Pass (15,250 ft) to Ronti Gad (13,420 ft) 10 km, 11 hrs
Day 8 :- Ronti Gad (13,420 ft to (Sangla 8,800 ft ) 12 kms, 6 hrs

Information About Rupin Pass Trek:-

With this winsome Rupin Pass trek experience, unravel the high altitude Rupin Pass and engage in the many thrills that come along the way. The Pass is perched at 4600m in the surreal Himalayan mountain range of Himachal Pradesh. 

Based on the intensity of the snow, this path might get challenging at times. Throughout, you will be greeted with stunning scenery such as cascades, verdant meadows, snow-kissed mountains, charming hamlets and big rivers.

Begin your Rupin Pass trekking by paying respects at the Pokhu Devta, an ancient place of worship. The delights of the tour include trekking amidst rhododendron woodlands, fields and ascending pictorial meadows. You will also have to brace yourself for climbing up snowy patches. As you make your way through some hamlets, get a fine whiff of their local culture and lives. Also, enjoy fabulous views of Kinner Kailash range along with the hamlets that dot the Sangla Valley.

Temperature Range: Depending upon the season, the weather would oscillate between 14-22 °C, 0-8 °C, 12-20 °C to - 4 to 5 °C

Detailed Itinerary:-

Day 01: Dehradun to Dhaula

On the first day of your journey, you don’t have to trek but ride your way on vehicle to Dhaula. You can hire a cab, or can go in your private vehicle, other cost effective way to Dhaula is via bus going from Dehradun to Sankri, deboard at Naitwar and can hire a shared jeep till Dhaula.

Day 2 :- Daula (5,500 ft) to Sewa (6,300 ft), 7 kms, 6 hrs

It is an easy, undulating 11 km walk from Dhaula to Sewa. The trail ascends through a few friendly villages, and curves into a gorge. Look for apple and apricot trees along the trail. You will also pass through Barley and Potato fields before you enter a dense jungle. There is a river and a number of rivulets towards the end of the trail. You will reach Gosangu in 6 hours. Camp overnight at Gosangu.

Day 3 :- Sewa (6,300 ft) to Jhaka (8,700 ft), 9 kms, 7 hrs

Prepare yourself for a hard day's trek today, covering 9 km in 6 hours. The trail comprises multiple steep climbs followed by gentle walks. There is a steep over-hanging trail walk which leads to a river. This long climb is followed by a descending walk through Deodar and Walnut trees upto Jhaka village. Jhaka is a small village, popularly known as the hanging village as it rests on the edge of the mountain side.
Camp overnight at Jhaka.

Day 4 :- Jhaka (8,700 ft) to Saruwas thatch (11,150 ft), 6 kms. 5 hrs

The trail makes its way out of the village through a playground, before entering a dense fir forest. Today also has a number of surprises in store with varied landscapes springing up unannounced. The trail passes snow bridges, dense forests, and meadows with rivulets swiftly cutting across it. You will reach Saruwas thatch in about 5 hours, covering a distance of 6 km. Camp overnight at Saruwas thatch.

Day 5 :- Saruwas thatch (11,150 ft) to Dhanderas thatch (lower water fall (11,680 ft), 5 kms, 4 hrs

The trail from Saruwas thatch to Dhanderas is one of the best day's on the entire trek. It is very diverse in landscapes taking you along a gorge, waterfalls, meadows, forests, snow bridges and forests. Silver birches (Bhoj trees) are common on this route. Collect a few bhoj patras (leaves) as souvenirs to take back home with you. The legend goes that the epic Ramayana was written on them. The biggest highlight of the day is the view you get from the edge of the valley close to Dhanderas - thousands of waterfalls cascade down the mountain slopes in front of you to join the Rupin river as it snakes its way through the beautiful green meadow that is dotted with millions of yellow marigolds. An absolutely spectacular view!
After a 5 hours trek, you will reach Dhanderas thatch or the lower waterfall camp. Camp for the night in this beautiful setting.

Day 6 :- Dhanderas thatch (11,680 ft) to UpperWaterfall camp or Rati Pheri camp (13,120 ft), 3 hrs. (2 hrs steep climb)

This day is very important for proper acclimatization.
Since the entire walk is mostly on snow and ice, a trekking pole and ice axe will come in handy today. The trail from Dhanderas passes through a number of streams that you need to hop over until you get to the mouth of the waterfall. It will take close to 2 hours to get to the upper waterfall camp. Camp overnight.

Day 7 :- Upper Waterfall (13,120 ft) to Rupin Pass (15,250 ft) to Ronti Gad (13,420 ft) 10 km, 11 hrs

Prepare yourself for a long and gruelling, yet exciting day as you trek for almost 11 hours at a stretch. The trail is mostly on snow fields with steep ascents and all you see for miles and miles is a perfectly white hue. The pass is a saddle on a ridge line cutting its way through and across the Dhauladar range.
Hundreds of little stone cairns line up the ridge line of the Rupin pass. Multicolour prayer flags flutter in the high winds of the pass. On your way down from the pass, it is a sharp descent to the snowline and then to the meadows of Ronti Gad.
You will reach Ronti Gad camp by evening. Dive into your sleeping bags early for a well deserved rest.

Day 8 :- Ronti Gad (13,420 ft to Sangla (8,800 ft) 12 kms, 6 hrs.

The trail from Ronti gad to Sangla is a steep descent through diverse landscapes every few minutes. You will see spectacular mountain views of the Kinner Kailiash ranges while descending. As you near civilisation, the trail cuts across step farms and fruit orchards. It will take around 6 hours to reach Sangla. Stay at Sangla or depart (on your own)*
