Rakshabandhan Celebration @ Cafe Zaffiro
Celebrate Rakshabandhan, the festival of love and bonding with a difference this year. On the day of Rakhi, sisters tie a rakhi to their brother's wrists, cementing the bond of kinship and representing the brother's lifelong vow to protect her.
This year, we hope to re-imagine the festival by liberating it from the context of fraternal-sororal love. We hope to encourage friends, lovers, and loved ones to tie Rakhis to each other, as a communal act of coming together and expressing love in its broadest context. Indeed history tells us that this was common practice but the festival has become streamlined solely on brother-sister love. It is time to reclaim this beautiful idea!
We also wish to re-imagine protection - it is not just the men who can protect, and hence we hope by tying a rakhi to a female friend, you will invert this scheme of things. Don't forget to eat lots of sweets and demand gifts from your rakhi partners!
We are also celebrating with special Monsoon Fashion Rakhis, featuring special limited edition designer rakhis by the country's leading designers.
