The duration for MSP training will be for 16 hours and would broadly cover the following topics:
1. Introduction to Project Management and Microsoft Project Tool(Menus and Toolbars)
Creating the Project Plan
a. Creating a new Project Plan or from existing project templates
b. Setting up the Project environment
c. Defining Calendars
d. Defining, adding and Organizing Activities using outlining
e. Working with Task Dependencies and Constraints
f. Entering the resource information
g. Assigning Calendars and resources to Project activities
h. Assigning Cost information to each activity/resource
i. Preparing the Schedule for the project
j. Understanding the various Tools and Techniques for Scheduling
k. Creating Network diagrams
l. Identifying the Critical path for the project
m. Analyzing the CPM and PERT Method for scheduling
n. Creating a Baseline for the Project Plan
3. Tracking the Project Plan
a. Updating the schedule, cost with actuals
b. Understanding EVMS Concepts like variances and Indices for Schedule and Cost
c. Tracking Progress with Baseline.
d. Track changes in various versions of a project
e. Understanding Resource Leveling
Formatting Views using various types and formats
Creating various types of Filters for the Project activities.
Understanding Reporting using the ready to use templates for both base reports and Visual reports.
Working with multiple projects
Integrating of MS-Project with other Microsoft applications
Export data from Microsoft Project 2007 to other Office applications like MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Creating a case study to work with all aspects mentioned above.
The course material will be provided by the Organizer and would include a Case Study.
Each participant will download the MS-Project 2007 trail version which is a free download from the Microsoft Web site before the start of the training session or Sigmaedge will provide the same to the participants.
About the Consultant
The consultant, Mr.Bhanumurthy Punnamaraju, PMP certified Professional, has over 20 years of industry experience in both the IT and training industries with core competencies in Program and Project management and Software delivery.
He has managed multiple types of IT projects from full development life-cycle projects to, Time & Material, Resource augmentation, Maintenance & Production support projects in both onsite – offshore models for customers such as Pratt&Whitney Canada, McKesson Corporation USA, Premier Farnell UK, British Telecom, Indian Organic Chemicals etc.
He has a very strong corporate training background and has trained several corporate batches, public workshops and Post Graduate programs in Project Management that include Panacea Biotech, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE).
He has delivered several PMP (Project Management Professional) certification workshops, customized Project Management trainings and MS-project workshops till date. He was also involved in Quality Programs like ISO and CMMi implementations
