ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Significance
The civil engineering industry is undergoing rapid changes with technological applications and reforms in practices. Rapid technological innovations are taking place in various sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. More than ever before, there is a need for the academic community and the industry to move in synchrony to adequately equip the young and future engineers with the trending technologies and practices. This workshop is aimed for enhancing the interaction of the academic community with the industry, with an emphasis on understanding the state of the art Civil Engineering industrial practices.
Scope
This workshop is being organized to provide a unique opportunity for continuing education in the technological developments and latest practices of the civil engineering industry. It aims to bring together civil engineers, architects, construction practitioners, builders, consultants and related experts to share their knowledge, and experience on
various issues and solutions relevant to the present scenario. The workshop shall not only benefit the students, research scholars and academicians, but will also be very relevant to the practicing engineers and consultants in all fields of civil engineering.
ABOUT MCET
The Methodist College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) is a young, dynamic and a fast growing Engineering College, located in the heart of the pearl city of Hyderabad. It was established in the year 2008. It is approved by AICTE & affiliated to Osmania University.At present the college offers four year engineering degree courses leading to the award of
bachelor of engineering (B.E) in Civil engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. College also offers two year P.G degree Programs in Mechanical
Engineering and Business Administration. Academic excellence of the college is reflected by the fact that two students bagged the university gold medal in recent years. Few students also figured in top 10 candidates of the university examinations. The college offers a very healthy balance of curricular, extracurricular and social activities for the overall
development of the student community.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The department of civil engineering was established with an intake of 60 students in the year 2013. In 2014, the intake was increased to 120. The department has well qualified faculty and is equipped with excellent laboratory facilities. The student chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) was established in the academic year 2016-2017. The
department has also launched the student chapter of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) recently. The department is very active in organizing technical events, industrial visits, workshops and conferences for the benefit of students.
