FIVE DAY CONVENTION ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS @ Kolkata, 16th to 20th August 2011

 

About The Event

Tentative Schedule:

Day 1 and 2: 

National Seminar on India’s Constructive Engagement with Asia in the 21th Century

The two day seminar will be focusing on India’s Foreign Policy on geographical areas pertaining to South Asia, South East Asia, Asia Pacific, Central Asia and West Asia. The sessions will consist of one inaugural session, technical sessions and a valedictory session focusing on the theme.

Day 3:

 The third day would consist of two different events, a Young Scholar’s meet and screening of documentaries/ short films/feature films respectively. The films released by Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India will be screened during the session. The theme of the Young Scholar’s meet, will be “Cultural Constructs: The role it plays in Indian Asian Engagement.”

Day 4:

Today, International Relations is an interdisciplinary subject. Based on this premise eminent scholars from different fields will be invited to deliver special lecture/s on India and Asia in the 21th Century.The second half of the day will marked by a cultural evening.  The theme of this cultural event would be International Humanitarianism: Contribution of India

Day 5:

On the occasion of 15th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda, a symposium on the theme ‘Tagore and Vivekananda: Their Contribution on Making of New India’ shall be organized. Experts on Tagore and Vivekananda are to be invited to deliver lectures on the same.

The Valedictory function of the entire convention will be held on the second half of the day.

Throughout the Convention there will be the display of books and documents published by different publishers from India and abroad. Publications of the Minstry of External Affairs, Government of India shall be also displayed.

Target Groups:

Teachers, researchers, students, Professionals, business people, media personnel may take part in the seminar. The approximate number of participants will be 100 for the business sessions. Invitation will be sent in all the major Universities and Institutions throughout India.

Experts:

Experts will be drawn from academicians, foreign services, Civil services, media, business and literature.  The name of the experts will be finalized in consultation with the Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs.
