Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab both have lost to their opponents in their opening matches. While Rajasthan Royals beat the former in Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab was defeated by the Pune Warriors in Navi Mumbai. In fact Deccan Chargers is in a more vulnerable position as the team has experienced a second setback in Kolkata. Deccan Chargers in its April 16th match will play under huge pressure because the IPL-IV tournament has been fruitless for them so far. Compared to the stance of Kings XI Punjab, Deccan Chargers might get it tougher to make it to the next round.
Deccan’s horror: Deccan Chargers was restricted to a meager 137 runs by the Rajasthan Royals playing under the leadership of Australian spinner Shane Warne. They were playing inside a stadium crowded by people of their own and the second match of IPL also brought DC an opportunity to defeat the RR for the first time. But DC batsmen failed to overpower Siddharth Trivedi, Warne and Singh who were professional in their delivery. DC’s batting performance has been constantly lousy in that match and despite having occasional flickers the team could not show much. DC’s subsequent defeat in the Eden gardens was another nightmare. The unified batting performance of Bisla, Gambhir, Kallis and Tiwary was too aggressive for DC to check.

Gilchrist’s weak pitch reading: Kings XI Punjab was rendered a lame by the IPL debutant Pune warriors. Punjab was destroyed by the outstanding economy in the performance of Yuvraj Singh’s men. The unimpressive batting line-up of Punjab was frustrated and they made a small 112 score and it proved a mere cakewalk for Pune which got past the target in 13.1 overs. The Punjab skipper Adam Gilchrist said at the toss that he knows the DY Patil Stadium pitch well, but the consequence of the match reflects his weak reading.
Squad: Kings XI Punjab:
Adam Gilchrist (Captain)
Shaun Marsh, David Hussey
Dinesh Karthik (wk)
Prediction: The 15th IPL match between DC and Punjab will be unbridled fun, if it is taken seriously. While DC is an outgoing entity for this season, Punjab still has chances of making it to the next level. Honestly, Punjab stills stands the chance registering a victory against the Chargers but the Australian skipper captain must not make vague reading of the Hyderabad pitch.
