Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore DLF IPL IV, Chennai, April 16, 2011

About The Event

Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, both have easefully got through the first round against Kolkata Knight Riders and Kochi Tuskers Kerala respectively. So, after having good starts, both the teams managed the necessary combustion for the required acceleration. The 14th match between the two will be an intensive struggle because while the Chennai captain M S Dhoni has got the blessings of the cricket muse, Daniel Vettori’s men are in no mood to take a retreat. We must rely on the teams’ opening performance, if we are to predict anything on the 14th match of this season.

Chennai Super Kings: Skipper Dhoni, unable to shed the glow of the ICC WC win, gave a thrilling performance and outperformed the Kolkata Knights. Batting, bowling and fielding—all of them were in proportion. Within eight overs, they managed 70 runs. It seems Dhoni wanted to reproduce the World Cup final intensity in the match. The captain himself stumped three batsmen. Srikkanth Anirudha’s 64 runs off 5 deliveries were as important a contribution as crucial was the last over given to Tim Southee. When the Gambhir’s team needed only 4 runs to beat CSK, Dhoni was sure only a Yorker will turn the match in their favor and it happened. Dhoni’s magical captaincy is yet to take another height on April 16 to register a victory against the Vettori’s men.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: The six-wicket win of the Royal Challengers against the Kochi team is enough for arousing the expectation level of cricket fans. Brendon McCullum and VVS Laxman of Kochi did give a good start by managing 80 runs within 9 overs but the initial momentum soon vanished after. Vettori’s spin deliveries are to be credited certainly. But the team effort was also visible. While Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli did well with their 33 and 23 runs respectively, AB de Villiers’s unbeaten 54 runs put the team’s performance in good light.

The outcome of the 14th match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore is hard to predict, because if the Royal Challengers is guided by a good team spirit, Dhoni has a charismatic leadership which will take his team further. Moreover, Vettori’s spinning ability is also something that can give Dhoni’s batsmen a tough time. So, wait till the day comes and watch them on the ground.
