The output of commercial vehicles in India has shot up to 54.72 percent in April-June 2010 as compared to the same period last year with exports registering the growth of 103.37 percent in CV segment. Improvement in living standards of the middle class, a significant increase in their disposable incomes and competitive lending by the Indian financial sector are some of the factors contributed to this rapid growth of automotive industry in India. With the rising demand for better transportation, India is becoming one of the most important markets for the commercial vehicle industry. Further, the huge potential and an increasingly competitive local industry make India one of the most attractive automotive markets in the world - not only for production to meet the domestic consumption, but also for exports.
Against this backdrop, the maiden Bus and Special Vehicles Expo (BSVE) was jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in March, 2009 at Bengaluru - one of the major hub for the bus market in India. The four day event covered over an exhibition area of 6000 sqmts and witnessed over 3500+ domestic and overseas visitors from countries like Israel, France, Turkey, Dominican Republic, Brunei, Japan, China, and Egypt. The event generated over 2150 business enquiries for the participating companies. As part of BSVE 2009 a series of Special Meetings were also held - Meeting of Clinton Foundation, Roundtable discussion with State Transport Undertakings (BMRC, KSRTC, BMTC), and Vehicle Manufacturers with National Hybrid Propulsion Project, etc. Second in the series, the BSVE 2011 scheduled for March, 2011 in Hyderabad, is aimed to showcase the modern, technological and environment friendly Buses & Special vehicles under one roof and facilitate joint venture, technology transfer, one to one interaction, promote exports, enquiry generation and interaction with automobile & related industries.
