About The Event

This is food festival cum sale event where BonGur - Purest Khejur Gur has been used 1st time as ingredient in mainstream recipes/ delicacies in an innovative way. People can also buy BonGur - The purest Khejur Gur.
We Palm Sugar & Palm Procucts Research & Promotion Foundation (PPRPF) are a social organisation, working on - 1) farmers welafre 2) long term plant science research.

Sugar palms are our flagship project and we have two project locations:
1) Erode, TN: producing Palmyrah Palm raw sugar/ jaggery from Palmyrah palm. Brand: Sweetee
2) Nadia, WB: producing Wild Date Plam Jaggery/ Nolen Gur (syrup)/ Patali (solid). Brand: BonGur

Khejur Gur/ Nolen is a delicacy in Bengal - available only in winter season - we are the 1st to have done research and scientific production, bottling of the nolen gur ( syrup form ) and ensuring its available even in off-season via organized retail. This is the purest form of khejur gur in the market free of any adulteration, pesticides and even passed isotope ration analysis (d13C) conforming to 100% pure palm source.


Sadly it is a dying trade as farmers do not get fair returns for their efforts and trees are being cut-down, we at PPRPF are working to revive this industry, standardize it and establish it as an alternate, healthy, eco-friendly source of sugar other than sugar cane. And also preserve the culture, tradition and memories associated with it in Bengal, Tamil Nadu.

We have tied-up Rainbow an Organic foods retailer in Kolkata and conducting the BonGur - Nolen Gur festival at their Cafe Organica. Through these events we intend to market/ popularize BonGur and bring back the tradition of Purity.
