About Puppetry as a an artform:
Puppetry throughout the ages has held an important place in traditional entertainment. Like traditional theatre, themes for puppet theatre are mostly based on epics and legends. Puppets from different parts of the country have their own identity. Regional styles of painting and sculpture are reflected in them. Like the string puppets from Rajasthan are known as Kathputli, string puppets of Orissa are known as Kundhei, puppets from Tamil Nadu known as Bommalattam.
15th May to 19th May: DIY workshop on how to make puppets.By the end of 5 days, each child would have made atleast one puppet/muppet by their own self.
20th May to 22nd May: Learn the art of storytelling. The children will learn to create a story using the puppets they have l
earnt. They will learn unique storytelling skills along with creative skills.
23rd May: Children will rehearse for the puppet show that they have organized.
24th May: A puppet show will be presented by the children. Family and friends will be invited for the same.
Age Group: 7 years to 15 years
