Speaker Profiles
Alok Mittal, Managing Director, Canaan India
Alok has a broad range of hands-on experience founding, funding and supporting early-stage technology companies. He leads Canaan’s investments in India, and focuses on digital media and mobile companies, as well as innovators in managed software services and other IT enabled businesses.
Alok is a co-founder of Indian Angel Network, on the board of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) in Delhi and an advisor to Adtech India. During the course of his association with Canaan India, he has advised Canaan Partners in their investment in BharatMatrimony (Matrimony.com), Equitas, iYogi, mCarbon, UnitedLex, CarTrade and Happiest Minds.
Prior to joining the venture industry, Alok co-founded JobsAhead.com, a leading web-based recruitment business, which was acquired by Monster.com, the global leader in online recruitment. He also brings strong Telecom experience to Canaan having worked for Hughes Software Systems prior to that. Alok earned a BE in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and a MS in computer science from UC Berkeley.
Abhishek Gupta, General Manager, TLabs
Abhishek Gupta, currently leads the TLab initiatives at Times Internet limited. At TLabs, Abhishek is responsible for finding and funding startups in Technology, Internet and mobile space. Apart from day-to-day mentoring of startups in strategy, technology, product and marketing and connecting them to mentors, advisors and investors from the industry, he is also responsible for the management and execution of the program.
Mukul Singhal, Vice President, SAIF Partners
Mukul Singhal joined SAIF Partners in 2010 and is currently the Vice President. Prior to joining SAIF, Mukul worked at Canaan Partners, an early stage venture capital firm. Mukul is a TiE Charter Member and actively participates in the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem. His primary area of focus is early stage investments. SAIF Partners has invested in successful ventures including JustDial, Makemytrip, Specialty Restaurants and One97.
Mukul is B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and MBA from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Rajesh Sawhney, Global Superangels Forum and GSF Accelerator
Rajesh is the founder of GSF Accelerator, India’s first multi-city Tech Accelerator, backed by 20 iconic Digital founders and 5 leading venture funds from across the world. Rajesh is also the founder of GSF Superangels network and curator of the Global Superangels Forum. He is the co-host and curator of Founders Forum India. Rajesh has made over 15 investments as an active and engaged angel investor.
His journey has been a continuum of re-invention waves. In the first wave, he brought private radio (Times FM) to India in early nineties, and redefined Indian youth culture. In his second wave, he was at the cusp of early Internet culture in India and built Indiatimes.com, the most valuable Internet business in India in 2005 (funded by Sequoia). In the third wave, Rajesh was at the centre of a massive transformation of the Indian film industry, where he oversaw (as President, Reliance Entertainment) the corporatization of mom and pop Bollywood businesses into multi-billion dollar enterprise. At Reliance, Rajesh found himself at the centre of cross-border investment and alignment between Hollywood and Indian Film Industry and one of the biggest investment deals (DreamWorks) in Hollywood.
Currently in his fourth wave, Rajesh is building the vital building blocks of a nascent early stage startup ecosystem in India, and sees this as the biggest and most exciting challenge that he has faced in his life.
Rajesh is an alumnus of Harvard Business School (AMP), and has a fellowship from London School of Economics.
About Nurture Talent Academy
Nurture Talent Academy is India's 1st Institute for training entrepreneurs.
