This conference is jointly organised by the ECMO Society of India as the 5th Annual conference and the first conference of South and West Asia chapter of ELSO.

This region is representative of the following member countries:

South and West Asia ELSO

Following the successful organisation of ECMO training program sessions at the ECMO Society of India, an initiative was taken for the formation of South & West Asia chapter of ELSO on similar lines as Euro ELSO and Asia Pacific ELSO. Dr. Steve Conrad, then the Chair of the main ELSO Steering Committee and Mr. Peter Rycus, Executive Administrator at University of Michigan, ELSO were the representatives from ELSO, taking the lead in the formation of South & West Asia chapter of ELSO, besides ECMO directors and specialists from many centers in India, Iran and Oman. Initial talks were held in 2012 that lead to the consolidation and creation of steering committee in 2013 at the 4th ECMO Society of India annual conference held in June 2013 at New Delhi, India.

The South and West Asia Chapter of ELSO endeavors to promote the ethical and safe practice and science of ECLS in the region, while engaging other centers within the region in improving their understanding and use of ECMO. Innovative ideas to develop cost effective techniques without compromising the safety are welcome.
