About The Event

Rang De, India’s first low-cost online crowd funding platform that provides micro credit to entrepreneurs is organizing Matti Manushulu: People of the Soil, a group exhibition featuring the photography of Saurabh Chatterjee(a leading photographer who has been featured in The National Geographic Traveller) and others. The week long exhibition will be held in Hyderabad and Bangalore and the proceeds from the sales will go towards supporting a Farmer’s Producer Company in Mahbubnagar district of Telengana.

The photographs on display take us on a remarkable journey through Hasnabad village, and the lives of its people and showcase beautiful vistas of women farmers at work in the field. The spectacular portrayal of life in rural Telangana is a treat for photography enthusiasts, socially conscious individuals and those interested in learning more about rural India alike.

The exhibition will be inaugurated in Hyderabad at Lamakaan on August 13 by the founding team of ALC India, an organization that strives to improve the lives of producers. The Bangalore edition will be unveiled at the Rangoli Metro Art Gallery by Stan Thekaekara, Founder Director of Just Change, a radical trade model linking producers, consumers and investors in a mutually beneficial, equitable cooperative.

The exhibition also features photographs by Abhinaba Chatterjee, Jan Radtke, Nareshkumar Mani, Gayatri A, Sravan Patsa, Amarnath Madari, Laxman Kukudala, Vasu Dev, Raamachandhiran, and Nagrika Desai. This one-of-its-kind exhibition aims to create awareness and  draw attention towards women farmers and their quest for financial freedom and also enables visitors to make an impact in the lives of the people they see in the photographs.

Earlier in June, a Rang De social investor Saurabh Chatterjee had organised a workshop for  13 amateur photographers  in  Mahbubnagar, Hyderabad where Rang De  has supported a 900-strong women producer company with a Rs 20-lakh working capital loan.
