“The Greatest treasures often found in our backyards… Often go unnoticed” goes an old saying. The ancient art form of Warli is one such hidden treasure. Warli is the name of the biggest tribe found in Thane district North of Mumbai. The word “Warli” come from the word “warla” which means ‘piece of land’.

 

Blending interactions with warli tribesmen, dining in their homes, participating in their daily chores, sharing stories and aspiration; the Grassroutes Warli Journey reaches a climax when renowned practitioners of this ancient art form share their most intricate facets.

10:00 Explore Warli Customs: Interact with the Warli people and understand their culture and traditions. Visit a Warli Home.
13:00 Lunch in Villagers’ homes prepared by the local Women
14:30 Warli art Lessons from the Artesian. Learn Warli Painting. Draw different aspects of the warli life and environment
17:00 Light walk around the Village & participation in Village Livelihood Activities / Tea & Snacks
19:00 Move to the beats of the Tarpa (A traditional Warli Musical instrument made out of dried pumpkin) and join the locals in the Warli Dance!
20:00 Dinner
21:00 Rest & Relaxation around the Bonfire
22:00 Lights off

Activities on a Flexible Schedule – Nature & Time permitting:

  • Corn Barbecue / Toasting Marshmallows around the bonfire

Weekend Overnight Charges: Rs. 2100/- per person per night; Rs.1200/- per child (5-12 yrs).

Weekday Overnight Charges: Rs. 1900/- per person per night; Rs.1000/- per child (5-12 yrs).

Day Trip: Rs.1200/- per person ; Rs.900/- per child (5 – 12 yrs).

*12.36% Service tax is applicable on the above rates.
