Indian Folks is a six member contemporary folk rock band based in Delhi, composing original music where music and meaningful poetry are equally important elements. The band was formed in 2012 when a small bunch of musicians got together and slowly evolved with more musicians joining them. Over the last few years the band has performed at various venues in the country which has helped them mature and expand. The quest for the serious audience took them to different corners of the country and the band got an opportunity to perform at different social platforms like academic spaces, alternative and mainstream cultural spaces, news channels, radio stations, socio-cultural platforms. So far, they have travelled with their music to Delhi, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh. Indian Folks’ music is a collection of some fresh and melodious compositions based on contemporary themes that one can easily relate to like journey, life, social harmony, peace, humanity, etc. As a fusion band, it offers a blend of Indian classical music with folk tunes and Western soft rock and as a result one gets to listen to a unique blend of sounds. Their latest album Safar (released on 8th October 2016 in Delhi) offers seven original compositions of which six are in Hindi and one in Spanish. Safar has been composed and produced in such a way that it takes listeners on a thought provoking musical journey. The USP of Indian Folks is that they not only fuse Indian classical/folk music with the western music but they also produce original music in Spanish.
On 23 November 2016 at 7 pm Indian Folks will perform live for the Delhi International Arts Festival at the Civil Services Officers Institute Auditorium, Vinay Marg, Chanakyapuri, Delhi.
