Hanuman Jayanthi Puja
Lord Hanuman a symbol of strength and energy

" Performing Panchamukha Hanuman Yagya keeps evil forces away "

The power of Hanuman cannot be explained in simple words. He is magnificent, super powerful, colossal and greatly revered. His birth falls on the 15th day of Shukla Paksha during the Tamil month of Margazhi and this year it falls on December 29 and is observed as Hanuman Jayanthi, an important festival of Hindus. Hanuman is the symbol of strength and energy.

Hanuman’s mother Anjana was an apsara who was born on earth due to a curse. She was redeemed from this curse on giving birth to a son. The Valmiki Ramayana states that his father Kesari was the son of Brihaspati, the king of Sumeru. He is also called the son of Vayu (Pavanputra) or the Wind God. The legend says that Anjana and Kesari prayed Lord Shiva for a child and Vayu impregnated his male energy inside Anjana’s womb and she got a son.

His stories of assuming any form as he pleases, wielding rocks, moving mountains, scurrying through the air or grabbing the clouds, are way too many. He is worshipped as a deity with magical powers and has the ability to conquer evil spirits. He also, as a child, had a voracious desire for food.

Panchamukha Hanuman Homam

Panchamukha Hanuman refers to the five faces of the Lord. He assumed this form to destroy Mahiravana, brother of Ravana who captured Rama and Lakshmana and took them to the nether world as a sacrifice to Mahamaya, a witch and guru of Mahiravana.

Each face of the Panchamuka or five faces bears great significance to our lives.

The Hanuman facing east grants purity of mind. The Narasimha facing south grants victory and courage. The Garuda facing west helps remove black magic and poisons. The Varaha facing north showers prosperity and wealth. The Hayagriva facing the sky bestows us with knowledge and good offspring.
