SPONSORS: There are 21+ headings which are sponsored in this event. Scroll below to know more.

  1. Medal Hanger from GIANT STARKENN: This year we wanted to give our participants an exclusive gift in the form of a Medal Hanger, now that many events are happening in Pune and most of us would need a proper medal hanger which can house a lot of medals. Giant Starkenn accepted to bear the expenses of this medal designed by us and we are sure that you will be very happy to receive this in the goodies bag. This would easily have a MRP of Rs. 499/- if not more.

This hanger is different from other regular hangers in a way that it has been designed as a box and keeps a 12mm distance from the wall thereby allowing easy insertion and removal of medals while the supporting holes at the back are well hidden behind. Lot of research has gone in before we came up with this design which fits in our criteria of an affordable (from the sponsors point of view), not too small & not too big, functional yet elegant and practical design. See photo below to see how many medals can it house.

  2. Refreshments from GIANT STARKENN:

This year Giant Starkenn has sponsored the refreshments to our participants. Our participant will get packaged drinking water at Gurudatta hotel where he can refill his water bottle. On the top of Sinhagad he will get a glass (just a glass) of limbusharabat after producing the coupon. After he hikes down he will get limited yet sumptuous breakfast at the Gurudatta hotel which includes 2 snacks (Pohe and Sabudana Khichadi) and a glass of tea after producing the relevant coupon.

The parking zone will be manned by marshals of Giant Starkenn who will be issuing you a pair of coupons; one will be stuck to your cycle and the other remains with you which you must produce while taking your cycles back. Lock your cycles here and keep all valuables on the cycle in your backpack before starting hike up. Do not forget to top up your water bottles as there is no water station en-route of hike.

FLAG OFF at the hands of star athlete celebrities and coaches: Flag off will be sharp at 5am.

In line with our thinking of having flag off from 3 star athletes who have made Pune proud, this year we will be giving tribute to the star athletes and coaches of Pune who have contributed immensely in training athletes in the field of running and triathlon. Our star coaches and flag off celebrities this year are:

Dr. Kaustubh Radkar, Founder & Director, RadStrong & RadRX. www.kaustubhradkar.com

Mr. Atul Godbole, Founder, Motiv8 Coaching. http://motiv8coaching.com/

Mr. Anand Hatwalne, Co-founder, ‘Running Potential’. http://www.runningpotential.com/

Let’s know more about each one of them and their training philosophies:

  1. Dr. Kaustubh Radkar, Founder & Director RadStrong, RadRX. "Here every day is a makeover." www.kaustubhradkar.com

    • 20 x Ironman finisher, part of elite group to finish on all 6 continents.
    • Only person living in India to Qualify and Finish Ironman World championships in kona 2017
    • India's first Ironman certified coach
    • Fastest Indian at Comrades 2016, at Ultraman Triathlon 2017.

RadStrong coaching has contributed to tremendous growth in running and triathlon athletes in India and all over the world.  Under Dr. Radkar's guidance more than 50+ athletes have crossed the finish line of an Ironman, and several others at triathlons of different distances.  RadStrong has created a strong running community, in several metros of India, and our team has strong presence in races across India and worldwide.  We are one of the few teams in India to have a holistic approach to training that is scientific but also focuses on injury free training.

  2. Atul Godbole: He is an accomplished athlete who is passionate about running & endurance activities and believes that it is an excellent path to a healthy and fit lifestyle via continuous self-improvement. He is also a renowned coach, coaching athletes under his initiative Motiv8 Coaching (http://www.motiv8coaching.com) towards various goals including beginner 5K/10K, half marathon, full marathon, ultra marathon, triathlons and Ironman.

Under the devoted guidance and mentorship of Atul Godbole, Motiv8 athletes are training for various races in the coming months, with a huge contingent at the upcoming Ironman 70.3 and 140.6 races, Comrades Ultra, and quite a few are training to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon.

  3. Anand Hatwalne:  Co-founder of Running Potential, Anand has been running since 2004 but chose to run his first half marathon competitively only until 2010.He has run many half marathons and 4 full marathons since then. His personal best for a Full Marathon is 3:20 hrs (at Mumbai) and 1:29 hrs for a Half Marathon (at Delhi).

His special interests are in exercise and running physiology, running technique and shoes. He loves exploring, experimenting and also validating published research in the local context for helping everyone run better and faster over time.

It was in August 2013, Anand and his co-founder friends Aditya Kelkar and Anand Takale formed Running Potential by sensing a missing gap that existed for runners in and around Pune. People wanted to run better but didn't know how. Since then, Running Potential has guided a handful of runners to run faster, to run their first marathons or half marathons; or just for developing aerobic fitness via regular running. We believe in 'training smart' i.e. not only training hard, but training smart as well!

Running Potential believes in quality over quantity, and hence chooses to operate at a very small, low-to-no-social-media-profile level. However, it believes in publicly distributing the running wisdom it collectively has from time to time. As a part of that effort, it has delivered many talks in public forums such as Athletic Insights, and also at prestigious educational institutions such as College of Military Engineering and National Defense Academy in Pune. The topics varied from Running Physiology, Race preparation and tactics, planning a running career in the long term, Using Garmin devices effectively and Heart Rate & HRV in training etc.

SINHAGAD BIKE AND HIKE: BACKGROUND:

Sinhagad B&H was started in 2012 by Dr. Sandesh Doshi, Nikhil Shan and CA Prashant Tidke on every Thursday assembling at 4.25am and starting at 4.30am from Rajaram Bridge. Over the years many more folks joined and became regular Sinhagad Bike & Hikers and all have reaped the benefits of it. Those who know about B&H will agree that it is a challenging workout, which tests your physical as well as mental toughness. However, all the efforts invested in it, provide profitable returns, guaranteed! As Doc Sandesh Doshi says, it is a totally paisa vasool workout.

Why most people can’t join on Thursdays? We have over the years realized that there are many folks who want to do join us on Thursdays but shy away from joining us possibly for the following reasons.

  • 4.30am is too early for them and they do not want to get up at 3.30am;
  • We are very punctual. We report at Rajaram bridge at 4.25am and after a selfie depart sharp at 4.30am so if anyone is late even by a couple of minutes has to virtually do the entire workout solo as within minutes we are out of sight.

  • We are pretty fast. We generally cover 18km in 53-55mins. After all we do not wake up at 3.30am to do a leisurely ride. So people who are not as fast, lag behind which demoralizes them to come again.

Therefore on this special event, we want participation of everyone; those who have joined us at different times as well as those who wanted to join us all these years but could not do for the above reasons. This will be a group activity unlike the regular workout when nobody waits for no one and does his/her workout at his/her desired pace.

BIKE AND HIKE: ROUTE INSTRUCTIONS: Those unfamiliar with Sinhagad route, please visit this link for route instructions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-e8KEb_TrN3E7D3GBp_FliG7lACUr1hDCel84UUPXm4/edit?usp=sharing

TIME SCHEDULE:

  • 05:00-06:10 - 70mins for cycling 18kms from Rajaram Bridge to Sinhagad base.
  • 06:11-06:20 - 10 mins transition time for parking, locking the cycles and refilling water bottles.
  • 06:21-06:25 - 5 mins for walking the 380meters long cement road, from Gurudatta hotel to start point of hike.
  • 06:26-07:20 - 55 mins for the hike up which is ~2.3km with ~515m of elevation gain.
  • 07:21-07:25 - 5 mins for Limbusarabat break.
  • 07:26-08:10 - 45 mins for hike down and reach Gurudatta hotel. Optional Jeep transport available for those who are worried about their knees or those who want to use it to save time.
  • 08:11-08:30 - 20 mins for Tea + Breakfast at Gurudatta hotel.  For all practical purposes the event ends here.
  • 08:35-09:30 - 60 mins for cycling back to Rajaram Bridge (or home). Please do not wait at Rajaram Bridge after you finish the event. Just go home.

This event is not easy: Let us clarify one thing at the outset. This event is not for the newbie who have just started cycling or hiking. However anyone who is in regular touch with any fitness activity such as cycling, running, trekking, swimming, badminton, tennis or any form of athletics, should not find it difficult to successfully complete this routine within the stipulated time period. This will not be a leisurely activity though. We will however help you push hard to complete the entire routine in a time that you would eventually be proud of.

FAQ's:

1. I'm not confident about doing BOTH, bike as well as hike together, but I'm still interested in the event, can I attend?
- Sure! In this edition, as long as you stick to the time schedule given above, you can choose to do the bike routine and whatever you can manage of the hike section, depending upon your fitness and endurance. We strongly recommend doing both however. Cycling is mandatory. Person who wants to do only hike should not register.

2. What time should I arrive and where?
- Report at RRB sharp at 4.40am (or earlier if you are coming in a car since you will need time to park your car safely either on Sinhagad road or best parked on the DP road near Vitthal mandir on the other side of RRB) since the flag off is at 5am sharp. In case you arrive after the flag off, please carry on and try to catch up with rest of the gang en-route. Remember, in morning time flies fast and before you know you are 20mins late. While reaching RRB, dogs can trouble you. Best way is to travel in-group, speed up if necessary, and shout loudly at them and in worst-case stop dead if dogs do not give up chasing. In our last 6years of SBnH, not a single time dog has bitten anyone.

3. What should I carry with me?
- Helmet is mandatory. No participant will be allowed to participate without the helmet. Other items: front and rear lights, water bottle with Enerzal (or similar), small backpack, cycle lock, nutrition bar or energy bar and some cash etc. It is desirable to also carry cycle puncture repair kit, spare tube, air pump and tool kit since this is basically a self supported event although this time luckily we have a complimentary support back up vehicle from Giants which will help you should you land up in any cycle malfunction. Moreover with a crowd of 600 cyclists and just 1 back up vehicle, things may not work out properly if too many cycles develop malfunction. In worst case you should be prepared to put your cycle in a tempo and go home. Contact details of the driver will be given later.

4. What will I get under refreshments? Refreshments mean just a glass of Limbusharabat at the top and a limited yet sumptuous breakfast at the base of Sinhagad, Gurudatta hotel. The breakfast will constitute a plate of Sabudana khichadi, a plate of Pohe and a glass of hot tea. Anything more, at the limbusharabat area or at the breakfast area, is at your own cost.

To avoid un-necessary hassles, misunderstandings and disputes please read detailed rules and regulations which are laid down so that the event ends in good spirit and on a positive note.

  11. If there are any damages or malfunctions in the cycle, please point them out before you rent it. Any damages other than the preexisting one mentioned above will have to be paid for by the participant. We as organisers are not accountable nor answerable for any disputes arising out of such a situation. You have to settle between yourself and Giant Starkenn.
  12. You have to return your cycle after the completion of the event. However there are two options that we are offering, again just for the value addition to our participant. You will have to choose one of the options right at time of booking this optional ticket. See below.
  13. Pick up at Sinhagad base: In case you do not want to cycle back all the way to Rajaram bridge, they can also pick your cycle from Sinhagad base provided you select that option when booking this ticket. In other words you can either return your cycle at the Sinhagad base (after completion of hike down before breakfast)
  14. Pick up at RRB: Here you return your cycle at the Rajaram bridge (after completion of the return cycling journey). Typically you should be back at RRB at 9.30am as per our time schedule. Please keep in your mind that the pick up vehicle may not arrive at 9.30am and that it could get delayed if it has to support some malfunctioned cycle. You should be prepared to wait there at RRB as long as it takes for the pick up vehicle to reach. It will be futile to call us for this reason as we will not be able to help you out in this case.
  15. It is mandatory to choose one of the above pickup options, however should you change your mind afterwards or at last minute, the change can be accommodated subject to room available in the pickup vehicle. You are requested to contact the Giant Starkenn personnel directly at the Sinhagad base or at Rajaram bridge if you have changed your mind that what you had opted for. If you inform us about your changed mind well before we close the registration of this ticket, we can update your revised pickup option.
  16. If there is any dispute arising out of rental cycle arrangement due to cycle damage or other issues etc, the participant will have to address it directly to Giant Starkenn and pay the damages if necessary. Please do not involve us although we will try to find an amicable solution should you involve us.
  17. The organizers shall not be responsible whatsoever even if the damage has been caused accidentally by some other participant. In such an event it is duty of the person (who has rented the cycle) to collect the damages from the person who has caused the damage, albeit unintentionally or inadvertently.
  18. No cash deposit will be required since the distance is short and one original ID is sufficient.
  19. The booking once done, cannot be cancelled nor money refunded under any circumstances.
  20. Remember that our event is a time bound event. As per the itinerary you should be back at Rajaram bridge by 9.30am. If you are a slow cyclist who is likely to arrive bit late, please inform the concerned person and exchange your phone numbers so that you both can communicate with each other.
  21. While you take the delivery of your cycle, it will be your responsibility to note down the number of the driver and the technician who is going to be there with the vehicle till the event is over. We will of course will inform you in email about the same but many times there are last minute changes in driver or the technician.
  22. If there is problem with your rental cycle, please directly contact the ride responsible person whose name we will be circulating in the email communication a day before the event. We as organizers may also be cycling with you and so may not be in position to take your calls.
  23. Giant Starkenn is also providing us a vehicle back up vehicle as a part of their sponsorship to this event for any cycle malfunction. However if you land up in a situation wherein you are not able to contact any one of organizers or volunteers or the Giant Starkenn personnel, then you will have to accept this situation simply as a bad luck or part and parcel of the game and take necessary measures at your own expenses or forgo the event entirely if the condition so compels you. In such an unfortunate circumstances beyond our control, we can not be held responsible nor your money can be refunded. Your kind understanding in such matters in earnestly solicited.

  3. The advance payment of Rs. 100 is not refundable if the participant cancels his order or does not turn up to collect his ordered pack. We however would return his 100 Rs incase we are unable to provide him the ordered pack due to shortage or some technical issue beyond our control.

6. JEEP TRANSPORTATION: Rs 70/- Terms and conditions:

  • One could use this service to safeguard knees during hike down. Or if one is too tired to hike down or if one is trailing too much behind the schedule given in the event itinerary.
  • Jeep transport is from Sinhagad top (car parking area) to Sinhagad base, Hotel Gurudatta at Aatkarwadi where breakfast will be served.
  • It is on sharing basis with 10 people in one jeep only for those who have pre-booked this facility.
  • This is not part of basic registration fee. It is an optional service provided by us at bare minimum cost to the participants.
  • To avail the jeep transport you have to select ‘jeep transport’ option and pay Rs. 70/- at the time of online event registration.
  • In case you have missed this during the initial online event registration or realize that you need that option, you can still book later by revisiting the event registration link and pay for that option.
  • Each participant (who has opted and paid for the jeep transport) will be given a ‘Jeep transport coupon’ in his goodies bag. Make sure it is in the goodies bag while taking the delivery.
  • Mr. Rahul is our Jeep contract person who owns a jeep bearing No. MH12-BA 4791. His telephone number is +91-9763705026. You can also identify his jeep from a sign board on the roof top which says "Sinhagadche Raje" (सिंहगडाचे राजे).
  • Rahul, in addition to his jeep, has been instructed to hire additional jeep/s depending upon total bookings. Each jeep will ferry 10 passengers on sharing basis.
  • As soon as the participant finishes his Limbusharabat drink, he has to rush to the car park area without wasting his time. Keep an eye on your watch.
  • The participant has to hand over the Jeep Transport coupon to Mr. Rahul.
  • Mr. Rahul will direct the participant to the concerned jeep.
  • The jeep/s will be ready at the Sinhagad top (car parking area) at 7am.
  • After 10 participants are accommodated, first jeep will leave for the base say at 7.15am.
  • Assuming we have enough bookings, the second jeep will take another 10 passengers and is expected to leave at around 7.30am or as soon as the seats are full. So on and so forth.
  • The last jeep will accommodate the remaining participants and leave at 7.45am. In case there are people yet to arrive, whether to wait or how long to wait, will be subject to approval from fellow participants who have made it in time. The last jeep will leave for the base of Sinhagad with whatever participants in it.
  • Those who miss the 7.45am cut off will be lucky to get the jeep if the jeep decides to wait for remaining people. It would not be fair to those people who have made it in time, to wait for late comers after a certain time.
  • In other words, if you cannot make to the parking area on or before 7.45am, you are probably going to miss your jeep transport.
  • After 8am, none of the registered jeeps will be available. Of course other jeeps are going to be there since it is a Saturday.
  • Participants who miss the registered jeep transport (for whatever reasons) and still want to come down by jeep, can still do so by using other jeeps available there but at their own cost.
  • Participants deciding at last minute that they would need a jeep transport will not be accommodated in our pre-booked jeeps even if there is a room available. This decision has been taken because the other jeep operators had objected to this last year since this takes away their business. Hope you understand this issue.
  • All jeep registrations, once paid, are NON-refundable.
  • Our volunteers of course will be there to guide you and help you. They will be released from their assigned duty at 8.15am.
  • Since mobile network is an issue at Sinhagad, we will not be calling any participant as to where he is or how long he is going to take to reach to the car parking area.
  • Those getting late in the hike up section must take a decision at 7.45am whether to continue hiking up at the risk of missing the jeep timing cut off or to turn around and start hike down.
  • If you think you may miss any of the above jeep cut-off timings, you may choose to start from RRB 15-20 minutes before the official flag off time of 5 a.m. However please do so only if you have very good front light and of course at your own risk.
  • Should you require any clarification on this please feel free to communicate with me. We would love that all those who booked for jeep transport, are able to make it to the top in time and are ferried down to the base of Sinhagad.

7. DO'S AND DON'TS:-

DO’s:

  • Do collect your goodies bag a day before. Bring all the necessary items with you that you may require.
  • Do sign an indemnity form without which you will not be allowed to participate.
  • DO make sure the previous night that you have everything ready that is required for the event.
  • Do attach the participants’ identity badge/ bib to your cycling jersey or T-shirt (somewhere where it is easily visible by our volunteers). We cannot otherwise identify who is our participant or not. Volunteers will be wearing a similar badge/bib with ‘Volunteer’ written on it.
  • Do keep a checklist of items that you require such as cycling suit, gloves, helmet, water bottle filled with water + electrolytes, lights charged, blinkers tested, tire pressures checked, sundry cash kept in a plastic pouch, refreshment  (and jeep if applicable) coupons, spare tube, puncture kit, tool kit etc.
  • Do wake up at least 1 hour before reporting time. Time flies esp. in the morning and before you know you will be late at least by 20mins. You would not want to miss a mass flag off and an energetic atmosphere of 200 cyclists. In case you do miss the flag off, you have to try and catch up the guys who have gone ahead.
  • Do eat something before coming. A banana or a chocolate bar would do. Coming on an empty stomach is not advisable.
  • Do wear a Helmet, get good front light (cycle or headband) and rear lights for your cycles. If your light is not powerful you may cycle along with someone who has a better light. It is worth buying a good quality LED front light with Li-Ion rechargeable battery if you plan to do this activity on a regular basis. A fall or an accident (and a subsequent hospital visit) just because you did not see a something in time will probably cost you many times more a cost of good front light.
  • Do reach the venue on time i.e. between 4.30am and 4:40am. If you are planning to come by car, ensure you arrive early enough so as to find appropriate parking space on Sinhagad road or on DP road near Vitthal mandir on the other side of Rajaram Bridge.
  • Do remember to fill your cycle water bottle and bring it along, as there is no provision for en route water station either while going or while coming.
  • When you drink water from the water bottle while riding, remember that it could be a bit tricky with so many people riding together. You could accidentally drop your bottle or could lose your balance or could get your cycle entangled with a fellow cyclist and both may fall. Do not make any unforced errors.
  • Do make sure that you know the road to Sinhagad. It is presumed that everyone who has registered knows where is Donje phata, where is Sinhagad ghat road (Golewadi) and where is Sinhagad Paytha (base) at Aatkarwadi. For an uninformed participant, we would like to state that you have to leave the main tar road and go straight at Donje phata when you see the roadside board stating Panshet 19Km to the right / Sinagad 10Km straight / Donje 0Km. Our volunteers will be there to guide you towards Sinhagad. Golewadi is the area where Sinhagad ghat road goes up on our left. Aatkarwadi is a few km ahead which is at the base of Sinhagad and the road for our hike.
  • For those who are from outside Pune, here is the Google map link: From Rajaram Bridge / chowk to Hotel Gurudatta, Aatkarwadi.
  • Do study this well and know where is Donje phata where you have to leave the main road and go straight to Sinhagad.
  • Do follow traffic rules while cycling. You cannot suddenly change your lane without giving a warning to your fellow cyclists. If you see a pothole at the last minute, before you dodge to avoid the same, make sure there is no one beside you and only then you change the lane or else you go through that pothole. Expect a lot of vehicular traffic on your way back home.
  • Do keep one puncture kit between you and your friend. That way you can divide the weight during the hike leg and still be prepared to handle any puncture. Do keep some money handy. Giants backup vehicle will have spares on saleable basis and they will make every effort to get your cycle going. Understand that for 200+ participants it could be difficult for a single vehicle to attend to many breakdowns and it is advisable to be self sufficient should your cycle suffer some trouble.
  • Keep some energy drink handy for an emergency.
  • Do carry an energy bar, which you will possibly require after 18k cycling when you reach Sinhagad base.
  • Do refill your water bottle after the cycle leg at the Gurudatta hotel. This would normally be sufficient for the hike up part. There is no provision of water station on hiking route. Of course you can always buy water from many vendors en route, should you fall short on water.
  • There is nothing to get lost on the hiking route. Gurudatta Hotel to Limbusarabat spot via trek route (Hiking section – 2.4Km) https://goo.gl/maps/asNoLJvek6n
  • Do carry your refreshment coupons. After hike up you will get one glass of limbusarabat against one coupon, (additional at your cost). Breakfast is after hike down (or jeep down for those who booked that transport) at the Gurudatta hotel. And do not worry; Jeeps will drop you at the Gurudatta hotel and not at the base of the ghat at Golewadi. You will get Tea + heavy yet limited breakfast. Menu is fixed. Drinking water that is served is bore-well water (which we have been drinking all these years) however packaged drinking water is available at your cost.
  • If you do not want to wear your helmet during the hike leg, make sure that it is included in the cycle lock while parking. That way you won’t have to carry them in your bag! We recommend that do not keep valuables or expensive cycling accessories on the cycles. Remove them and put in your backpack while hiking up. We cannot take responsibility for any theft or loss of valuables although the parking area is well secure and entirely be managed by Giants people. There is no facility for the baggage counter however.
  • Do keep a track of time and target to complete each leg of the event within the timing deadlines. Else you will have to ride back home in scorching sun unless you make an alternative arrangement to take you home with your cycle.
  • Although this is not a race, do record your timings for each leg of cycling as well as hiking. We will be most happy to publish your timings if they are supported by proper proof such as strava, Endomondo, Mapmyride, Garmin or similar. Record you cycling time from RRB to Aatkarwadi (Gurudatta Hotel) in minutes. For hiking timing we have finalized the hike start point as the point where the cement road ends and actual hike begins. Start your stopwatch as you step on the hike up start and stop when you reach the endpoint of hike, which is when you reach the steps at the limbusarabat area. Remember, while climbing up Sinhagad, there is nothing like moving time. Therefore instead of using an app, which give you moving time, we recommend you to use just simple stopwatch. It is independent of GPS and gives most accurate time.
  • Do ensure you finish the hike down leg and reach Gurudatta hotel by 8:10am. If you find it difficult to finish timing cut offs we recommend you cut short your hike and turnaround wherever you are at 7:45am to ensure you reach Gurudatta hotel in time for breakfast.
  • Do cooperate with the volunteers’ en-route. Since we will have over 200 participants it will be chaos unless we listen to their instructions and give them support.
  • Do help your fellow participant in case of any problems with his cycle or his health. Alert volunteers/ambulance in case of any emergencies.
  • Do smile for the camera! There will be photographers covering both the cycle and trek route waiting to click your pics! One quick selfie on the hike up or down section is alright but do not spend lot of time in photos. Remember this is not a picnic and the time restrictions that we have laid down are bit tight.
  • In case you want your friend or spouse to pick you up after the hike up, from the top car parking area, this is how that person should reach from Rajaram Chowk (RRB) to Sinhagad top car park via ghat road (24.1Km) https://goo.gl/maps/fV9QAPQZcNA2

DON’T’s:

  • Do NOT race. The event is a time bound event but NOT a competition. Your only competition is with yourself. There are no prizes.
  • Do NOT continue if you start feeling uncomfortable OR uneasy at any point.
  • Do NOT park your cycles in haphazard manner at Gurudatta hotel. We are specially erecting a structure for an organized way system seen in duathlon or triathlon for quick and safe parking.
  • All you have to do is lift the cycle from rear and hang by the seat.
  • Do NOT spend too much time after reaching the top of trek route. We have given only 5 mins for the limbusarabat drink. The event does not end there. Also, there is very little space available on top so it is recommended to have your refreshment and leave immediately. Our volunteers will facilitate speedy process in this area.
  • Do NOT take shortcuts while hiking up or down. If you get lost, we cannot trace you. Taking short cuts while hiking down is not advisable unless you are an expert hiker. One accidental fall will spoil your mood and our mood. Besides there is no medical support en-route hike section. So please do not fall. Pay attention to where you are laying your feet or else it is too easy to fall on face.
  • Do NOT depend on the backup vehicle to support you throughout the leg. Backup will be provided only for cycle failure/breakdown. Please carry your own puncture kits and spare tube.
  • Do not forget to refill your water bottles at Gurudatta hotel before you start your return journey.
  • Participants will be participating in this event at their own responsibility. Organizers will not be held responsible for any mishap, or damage, injury to them or the cycles. Before you join the event you will have to sign up an indemnity form the details of which will be given later.

8. BACKUP VEHICLE: Terms and conditions:

  • The vehicle backup provided by Giant Starkenn is a complimentary service to our event.
  • Although we (organizers) will make every effort to help you in case of a cycle malfunction where you will require to use the services of vehicle backup, organizers cannot be held responsible for any lacunae in their services.
  • Do NOT depend on the backup vehicle to support you throughout the leg. Backup will be provided only for cycle failure/breakdown.
  • Please carry your own puncture kits and spare tube as it may be virtually impossible to attend a lot of participants at different locations.
  • There will be just a one backup vehicle for this event since the distance is less and all the participants have enough time to keep their cycles ready in roadworthy condition.
  • Participants are expected to keep their cycle in perfect condition (with properly inflated tyres, proper lights and a water bottle etc.) the night before event. Please do not underestimate importance of prior checking of your cycle the night before the event.
  • We request you not to whatsapp or call on mobile on the event day as we may not be able to answer your message or take your call and help you out.
  • We may not be able to help you at the last minute if you realise that your tyres have less pressure than required.
  • The backup vehicle will be on the Rajaram bridge on Sinhagad road in case you suspect your vehicle needs some minor help at Rajaram bridge. Reach there well in time and locate the vehicle yourself as we may be busy in flag off.
  • Backup vehicle is primarily for the cycle breakdowns and not meant to ferry a tired participant and his cycle back home.
  • The support vehicle supplied by Giant Starkenn will have a technician with some commonly required spare parts (on saleable basis). He will do minor repairs such as chain malfunction or puncture and get the cycle going. If things cannot be managed, then the cycle will have to be kept in the back up vehicle. The vehicle can house up to 5 cycles with their riders. In case anyone wants to use the back up vehicle facility simply because he is tired to ride back, may do so subject to room available and in the event a genuine guy requires to use the vehicle then the tired guy with good cycle has to get down and ride back home.
  • If participant has a cycle breakdown (and is waiting for the backup vehicle to arrive at the scene and help him out) in the worst scenario, if our vehicle backup does not turn up for whatever reasons beyond our control, participant will have to take a decision and his cost which he deems appropriate at that moment as if he was riding on his own. We as organizers will not be responsible for such a situation.

9. CYCLES PARKING - Terms and conditions:

  • There will be a special structure erected for the safe and secure parking of the cycles.
  • It will me manned and managed by personnel from Giant Starkenn.
  • The cost of the structure has been borne by Giant Starkenn.
  • Each participant, as he enters the parking lounge at Gurudatta hotel, will be given a sticker with its counterpart. When collecting back your cycle the participant has to produce this counterpart otherwise his cycle will not be released.
  • Parking of the cycles is on "park at your own risk" basis.
  • Participant must carry his own lock and lock his cycle (along with helmet if he chooses to) when he parks his cycle in the parking area.
  • Every effort will be made to safeguard the cycles. However should there be any theft or damage to cycles whatsoever, the organizers will not be held responsible.
