About The Event

Chemical Engineering Society (ChES) of IIT Madras is proud to announce the opening of registrations for the 13th edition of Chemplus, the annual 3-day chemical engineering symposium, to be conducted on 28th February to 1st March 2020.

Chemplus provides an opportunity to all budding engineers irrespective of their branch of study and graduation status, to compete, exchange ideas, collaborate, learn and of course have fun, all under the same roof. We cordially invite you to take part and learn what it means to be a Chemical Engineer.

We have loads of informative workshops & fun events for everyone - from BTech students to PhDs alike. Just to give you a taste, we have IDPs from renowned industries, various workshops on MATLAB, Aspen, Ansys, etc; invited lectures from eminent personalities, debates, quizzes, and even a gaming zone for e-sports enthusiasts!

Certificates will be given for participation!

INDUSTRY DEFINED PROBLEM (IDP): It is the most anticipated event of ChemPlus. It requires lateral thinking and combining of various disciplines to come up with an industry-ready problem. Problems are provided directly by the leaders of the industry and represent the actual

issues faced by companies.

3 MINUTE FLASH TALK: A concise presentation, lasting, as the name suggests for only 3 minutes in which participants present a scientific concept or idea in such a manner that it is understandable to those outside their immediate field.

CHEM-E-DEBATE: Participants engage in a debate about specific topics related to the field of Chemical Engineering that are relevant in both industry and academia.

CHEM-E-QUIZ: Participants try to prove their worth as Chemical Engineers by answering some of the most mind-boggling and exciting questions related to the field of Chemical Engineering.

CHEM-E-CAR: Participants design cars using their Chemical Engineering knowledge. The cars are tested for functionality and for their adherence to safety guidelines.

POSTER PRESENTATION: Participants present their ideas about a particular topic in Chemical Engineering to the audience through a poster in a specified amount of time.

PAPER PRESENTATION: Participants present their ideas about a particular topic in Chemical Engineering to the audience in a specified amount of time.

ASPEN WORKSHOP: Given a process design and an appropriate selection of thermodynamic models, ASPEN Plus uses mathematical models to predict the performance of the process. This information can then be used iteratively to optimise the design. This makes ASPEN one of

the most valuable assets for a Process Engineer.

MATLAB WORKSHOP: MATLAB combines a desktop environment tuned for iterative analysis and design processes with a programming language that expresses matrix and array mathematics directly. With over 3 million users worldwide, MATLAB has become an indispensable tool for any literate.

ML & DS WITH PYTHON WORKSHOP: Machine learning is an application of AI that provides systems with the ability to learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed automatically. Data Science is the future of AI.
