Greetings from The Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation.
Back in the early 2000s, when interest in Raja Ravi Varma was not as huge as today, one person took it upon herself and made it her life objective to unearth the mystery behind the master artist and unravel his magnificent paintings.
Today, if Ravi Varma is the name that is synonymous with beautiful art and without doubt priceless, credit for that must go to Rupika Chawla. Her painstaking research, extensive study, ploughing through archival material in deep, dusty cellars and palaces, and her innumerable interviews with everybody connected with Ravi Varma, saw her publish the book Raja Ravi Varma: Painter of Colonial India in 2010.
An authority on his paintings, techniques and methodology, we have the pleasure of inviting you to Rupika’s talk: An Interpretation of Ravi Varma’s Puranic Paintings on August 20, 2020 at 6.30 pm.
