About The Event

Education in the Theatre arts inculcates several important life skills in children like Teamwork, Collaboration, Communication and Leadership apart from building confidence and self-esteem.  Theatre and Drama activities have shown to improve reading comprehension, and both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Numerous studies have also demonstrated a correlation between drama involvement and academic achievement.

The workshop will take hands-on approach to teaching theatre, and will be focussed towards showcasing the final performance during the culmination night.  Apart from a lot of theatre excercises that involve voice, body language or physical text, acting etc, the workshop will also have a lot of activities and games.

About The Event

Experts in Experiential Education believe we are producing a generation of ‘cotton wool kids’, who are missing out on experiences that help to raise their self-esteem, give them confidence and increase motivation.

Current research suggests that by not allowing young people to engage in independent mobility and environmental learning, we are  denying them the opportunity to develop the skills and resilience that they need to be able to be safe and manage complex environments. There are also indications that such restrictions have long-term implications for young people’s future development, health and well-being.

Outdoor Learning helps young people to develop the ability to cope with and experience a wide variety of challenges. It requires them to make informed choices and to understand and take responsibility for the consequences. It leads to a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.

PEDAGOGY

The Zest Lab has been designed and developed by various experts in experiential and outdoor education( including life-skills and the arts) at the Gap Year University. The curriculum follows a unique, innovative and scientific pedagogry  that’s not just effective but also challenging and fun.

The workshops will be facilitated by a team of expert trainers and facilitators who are passionate about education and arts, and have avid experience in facilitating experiential and art based learning.

Each module will be handled by a team of two, a facilitator and a cognitive behavioral psychologist. While the facilitator engages the participants, the psychologist monitors the participation and shares the assessment with the participants. as feedback in the debrief sessions.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso.
