BEYOND THE SPOTLIGHT 2016 by Artsphere
The Performing Arts Festival 2016 – “Beyond The Spotlight” brings to you ‘Urmila’ and ‘Dhrut’ – two splendid Dance Ballads by Indian artists. This marks the 3rd anniversary of Artsphere as well as celebrates the occasion of World Dance Day.
URMILA: The Forgotten Wife by Kalavardhini, Shambhavi's, Naad
Bringing together dance, music and poetry, Urmila: The Forgotten Wife is an adaptation of Pervin Saket’s celebrated novel Urmila. Inspired by the ignored story of Urmila, Laxman’s wife from the Ramayana, the narrative explores her loneliness and rejection on being left behind, rekindling questions of devotion and desire, in modern-day India.
DHRUT by Sumeet Nagdev Dance Arts
What if forward and backward time travel was to be visualized in a three-dimensional space? Delving into the fascinating concept of time dilation, SNDA’s latest production, Dhrut, portrays the intricate relationship between time, space and speed. A seamless synchronization between rapid movement vocabulary and musicality, Dhrut highlights the individual impact of pace, rhythm and motion on movement to culminate into an emulsion of the three.
