About The Event

Another first from BBF, an exclusive walk that narrates the history about the "Battles fought for "Bengaluru Petta". Not many know that Bengaluru once had two forts; the first was the mud fort built by Kempe Gowda about the year 1537 and which includes the area around Chickpet, Nagarathpet, Mamulpet Sultanpet, Cottonpet, Thigalarapet, Balepet, etc. To the South of this was the stone fort rebuilt in stone by Hyder Ali in 1760's.

We take you on a walk in and around the old Pettah area in search of some of the remnants of the old fort as well as pay homage to some of the martyrs of the 1791 battle with the British during the Third Anglo-Mysore war. We also try to understand how this prosperous "Town" invited the greed of not only the Bijapur Sultans, the mighty Mughals, the rampaging Marathas and finally the East India Company itself.

We take guests to the different parts of the "Pettah" and narrate tales about some sections and how it's prosperity brought about it's end. We also talk about a few not so well known "Battles of Bengaluru Petta". The walk includes a brief description about the fort design as well as Bengaluru as it was in the 16th, 17th & 18th centuries as written in the accounts of travelers to this city in those periods.

Breakfast will be provided during this walk. The cost of the ticket is 600/- per individual.
