Ministry of Commerce and Industry and FICCI are jointly organizing a “Seminar on India’s Engagements with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)” according to the following
Recent years have witnessed India’s growing engagement with a number of economies to negotiate and conclude Comprehensive Economic Cooperation/Partnership Agreements (CECA/CEPA) and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). India has signed some very critical FTAs in the recent past - with ASEAN and Korea in 2009 and with Japan and Malaysia in 2011.
At this juncture, it is felt, it would be useful to have an interaction between the policy- makers and business community on various aspects of these free trade agreements. The seminar would also provide us an opportunity to take stock of the opportunities brought in by these free trade agreements and also challenges faced by Indian business.
The purpose is to sensitize industry and increase awareness on how to take maximum advantage of India entering into these FTAs.
To involve all stakeholders – all sectors of the industry, local/regional industry
associations/chambers, MSME entrepreneurs and Government officials and provide a platform so that stakeholders can raise their concerns.
