Sustainable Agriculture

Sustainable agriculture practices will play a crucial role in dealing with the many problems currently faced globally such as food security (quality and quantity), environmental problems, climate change, ecosystem impacts and resource degradation, supply chain management and other related areas. Realizing that the importance of sustainable agriculture lies in dynamics of research, this seminar provides a platform for professionals, to share their research activities, discuss and exchange ideas on current issues related to the sector and to form linkages which focus on the various clusters in the agriculture sector.  

Food Processing

The food processing industry contributes three to five per cent more to the country's gross domestic product than agriculture. Its growth rate is also faster. Improvements and achievements in this sector not only increase its growth opportunities but also contribute to strengthen the food security and lower the food inflation.

With this in mind, Seminar on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Processing is being organized by RAPC on 6th January, 2014. It focuses on leveraging the next wave of opportunities in the sustainable agriculture and food processing sectors.

The seminar will start with a plenary opening session to introduce all keynote speakers for two concurrent sessions, talking about sustainability issues and the vision of sustainability in the new research program named ‘Horizon 2020’ and food processing issues, entrepreneurial opportunities and related problems named ‘Food 2020.
